Honestly I think Dekota Fanning would be a wrong choice for the movie new moon because you want to portrait the character Jane with a fresh face someone who is is not so already in the limelight. When people watch new moon they wont be able to really see Janes character for what it is there just going to see Dekota(from prior movies), and nothing else. I think it would be more enjoyable to see a new face never really seen before. Thats my opinion.

i think dakota would be awesome for jane. and leigh is soo correct when she said characters in movies never fully match to their character's description in the book. its hard to believe she's only 15 years old. she's an amazing actress and one of my favorites right behind kristen stewart!!<3 can't wait till november 20th!!

Ok, so i really can't see Dakota Fanning as Jane!! In other comments ppl have mentioned Jodelle Ferland (look up a pic if you don't know who it is) and i could see her as Jane. She has the young child-like look, but there is something about her that just creeps me out and makes me see Jane in my head!! I love Dakota in like every movie i've seen her in, but she dosn't have the there's-a dark-side-to-me-uder-the-angelic-face look i think of when i think of Jane!!

I dont know what i pictured Jane being, i never really gave it any thought.
I like Dakota Fanning but i dont know about her in new moon. Plus shes only in what one scene? and for how long like 5 minutes? not even.

true; that is a valid point. and dakota is a great actress even for her age; i luved all the movies she's been in so far
but the roles she's played have been innocent little girls so im not confident she could play an evil vampire...

but actually over the past few weeks im kinda hoping she gets the part now

Ditto to what you said about looking too sweet....plus if you see her in the trailer for her new movie with <gasp> Summit Entertainment..."PUSH" she is supposed to be this clairvouyant girl but every time she "concentrates" so she can see the future she looks so funny, yet she is trying to look super serious like she is concentrating. IDK...we'll see how she does. I want this movie to be awesome so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.|!

Dakota Fanning is a truly great actress; I could really see her getting into the role of Jane. Right now, she may not look a bit like how Jane is portrayed, but I'm sure there are people out there who never imagined Edward and Jacob to look the way they were seen in the books. Think of how different Nikki Reed looks with all the make-up, and so many other people who have main roles in Twilight. It's really annoying me about all the rumors going around. All my friends hate Vanessa Hudgens and say she would be too cheesey and #@!? as Leah; I know that she isn't going to be Leah, but even if she was, she is actually a great actress. I first saw Vanessa in Thunderbirds and thought she was amazing. They made a great choice of the cast of Twilight, so people should begin to trust them with the casting of New Moon. It will be awesome, no matter what.
