I feel that the original placements convey that better....Edward up front looking back at Bella, Jacob between them creating the triangle and being Bellas rock, with Bella leaning on him physically whilst looking around for the one she truly loves.
I think the above is more symbolic of Eclipse with Bella and Edward together as a couple and Jacob on the outside.
and i also think this one represents mostly eclipse then new moon....
cuz i mean jacob was in the book a lot! not to b left behind...

As for giving away the end of the story I think that if someone hasn't heard how the story ends, they've been living under a rock!
I love these books, I fully intend to pass them along to my kids as probably the most enjoyable series I have ever read, and I read a lot. I can't wait for the movie even though this book is my least favorite of all.

I think I like the official poster better. Jacob is standing between Bella and her hallucinations of Edward throughout the book waiting for her to fall in love with him, but in the end Bella practically bolts to save Edward because she loves him so deeply. I think the first poster shows the emotions perfectly about how heartwrenching her choice is soon to be. I love Jacobs expression by the way, and Edward is wow simply Edward. I love it!

i think the characters' positions to each other are more approriate, in the official one jacob's pose is far too aggressive and also his position between the two is rather fitting for ecplice than new moon...
in this version bella clings to edward but he looks away, i especially like that (although he shouldn't be there in the first place :))
so thanks, i was rather disappointed with the official one so now i have one i can contently look at :)
You don't want to advertise the end of the movie; you want to give a hint of what the story is about.

I think if Edward and Jacob were switch and Bella place with Jacob up front it would be better. This fan made poster is good, and I think better put together then the original, but there are problems with both posters overall.
The coloring on this one isn't very good.
I like Bella better in Jacob's arms, becuase he's the one 'physically' there for her in NM.
Also, that's the whole feeling of New Moon to me when I read it: Bella's physically with Jacob who's trying to ger her over Edward, who still loves her, but she doesn't know it.
The whole time the anticipation of the reuniting of Edward and bella is the drviing force of NM. Thus the official picture better captures this emotion. Will Bella be with edward again?...That's why you have to read NM, therefore, this adapted picture is no good, it tells the end, but not the story inbetween.
It's perfect. Bella loves Edward so she is holding him.
And Jacob is mad and loves her too, but it the second choice, so he's in back

I know that many Team Edward girls are young and feel like they have to choose sides and put down Jacob, otherwise they are not being loyal to Edward, but really girls Stephenie Meyer loves ALL three of her main characters. So if she created them and loves them, and we love the Saga, we need to be respectful of her and not put down her characters.
I just am tired of Team Edward people putting down Jacob and the wolves (and Team Jacob people) all of the time, when the those who love Jacob don't do that to Edward or Team Edward people.
I love Jacob Black the most, but I love Edward and Bella and all of the rest of the characters, too.
I don't like the Volturi. But I think they are awesome bad guys and would never put them down in a mean spirited way, because they are part of our beloved Saga.

I just wish some Team Edward girls wouldn't be mean spirited.
I just don't see that we have to be "choosing sides".
It is perfectly good and fine to love one character over the other. And normal.
What I don't like is the character bashing/fan bashing.
I have seen some Team Jacob fans say some things jokingly about Edward. But I don't think they mean it in a mean spirited way. However, I have heard some Team Edward fans say "I HATE Jacob!!", "I want Jacob to die!!". This, I think is disrespectful. I have never seen a Team Jacob fan say "I want Edward to die." or "I hate Edward."
I am not saying all Team Edward girls are mean spirited, but about 10% of them give the Saga a bad name, because they are so mean spirited about anyone saying anything the least bit not "Team Edward" and doing crazy things like asking RPatzz to bite their neck. I feel sorry for him because some of the fans are sooo crazy nuts. It is making his like difficult. I don't want him to get so overwhelmed that he doesn't want to de Breaking Dawn.
I also think Lainey Gossip is often says mean, disrespectful and unappropriate things to Robert Pattison and Kristen Stewart. But she is doing it to make money (which doesn't make it right). She is not a Twiight fan arguing over which character is "best". They are ALL wonderful in their own ways. I wish she would stop the Rob/Kristen Rob/Nikki stuff. It's just disrespectful and ridiculous.
Anyway, I didn't mean to upset you by anything I said. I don't consider fans like you the "crazy" ones. It is the ones who feel they have to defend Edward by saying things like "I hate Jacob" or "I want him to die." Even Stephenie Meyer says that hurts her feelings.
I love the Saga, too and am so excited that our beloved books are coming to life. I totally agree with you about it's fascination. We are completely on the same page for that.
One last thing, I am really Team Switzerland.
I TOTALLY get that Bella had to choose Edward. I would have been hurt and upset if she didn't. They are soulmates in a supernatural world and MUST be together.
So why do I defend Jacob? Because if I were a 16 year old again, he would be my ideal guy. Funny, caring, protective, loyal to the end, and Tall, Dark and Gorgeous! He would have been for ME! (but I guess I would have to be reborn again as Renessme!)
That's why I don't like it when people say he should "die" or that he is a "disgusting dog" or that he is a "pedowolf". He is a wonderful character.
I am glad that we can agree to disagree agreeably! That is what mature adults do. (but not what some teen fangirls do)

Yes, Edward is for Bella, but she did love him, too, just less. And Nessie is not a "creepy little creature". Bella and Edward and Jacob and EVERYONE were willing to give their lives for her!
Everyone has the right to their opinion on who the love the most, but don't put down other peoples' choices, as it is somewhat insulting.

I would have bella clinging to Jacob but staring into the distance towards edward
I would have Jacob topless with clenched fists similar to the poster but glaring towards edward
I would have edward not touching the other charachters and looking away out of the photo - sort of indifferent (even though we know better from later in the book)
Then with the rest of the wolf pack (in wolf forms) howling in the background in the forest.
That would be my ideal New moon poster.

On the Summit Poster, there doesn't seem to be any romantic chemistry btw Bella and Jacob which is very accurate. They aren't gazing in each others eyes, holding each other close. I think Summit's poster is more accurate a portrayal...and isn't that what fans asked for.....(fans of the books at least).

Eddy shouldn't be in the pic as much as they have given the space... Not because I am Team Jacob but just because it is in the book that way. He should've had a prominent presence but not too in your face!
I'm surprised that there's no Edward on other movie posters ;) imagine how many more people would go to see Star Trek if Edward appeared on the posters... :D

Edward has much more role in this film than in the book... but that is ok. He has more role in the poster that too is ok...
What is not OK is the pissing match that is about to start by some Rob fans by saying that Jake is just a PR thing for Summit.... Seriously?? I mean seriously???

I don't see Bella's hand on Jacob's arm as showing the love between them yet. She's not facing him full-on, she's looking emotionless and away, but touching him. That doesn't scream love triangle yet. As we all recall, Bella and Jacob were quite touchy-feely in New Moon.
I think someone should re-create it to show Edward set slightly off to the side or in the back, maybe slightly muted, but shown full-on (for hardcore Rob fans). Bella and Jake should be together, with the same expressions, same touch, same her looking off to the side. That fits the tone of the book; Team whatever's just have to get over it. ;)~
I agree with what Kim said above.. that she could be looking in Edward's general direction with that look on her face. It would clue people in that she's getting close to Jacob but she's suffering because of Edward.
And yes, let's just chuck Bella over our shoulders and hope she lands safely on a pile of soft leaves.
She is supposed to be in pain after all... and look a mess. If she did come crawling back at least the next poster could look realistic!

I think Jake/Bella relationship/friendship is needed to show contrast between Edward/Bella and Jake/Bella- book wouldn't be as interesting without it and I guess, depending on each reader's personal preference, they're going to gravitate towards one guy.
I personally actually like Edward very much, BUT I prefer Jake's casual, laughing, warm personality and um...other physical attributes, and his dogged (excuse the pun) loyalty to Bella despite the fact that she drops him in the blink of an eye, and keeps picking him back up when she needs her sunshine "fix"
(and just to make sth clear: I LOVE Rob and GENERALLY think that the more Rob the better :D but this time I try really hard to remain objective :))
It depends on the POV of the fan who made the poster... I mean it can also be taken as Jake is there for her (I am not believing that) but what I thought was that Jake has to be the force which is supporting her through the lean times when Eddy was gone. In the 1st poster it is is visible that she is leaning on Jake for the emotional support .... *screams* Get away from him Bella!!!... erm sorry! got a bit carried away!

When the vote was posted if people liked the official new poster, I just thought it was okay, I mean, the fan posters have been just phenomenal! I've got a fanmade poster as my wallpaper at work, I enjoy them so much.

The way Bella is holding on to Edward like she doesnt want to let him go which she doesnt and the look from Jacob like he knows he is always second best but like hes plotting of ways in which to maybe become Bellas number one.
The fact she is in the middle of both of them!!! which is what she is in the book.
I think this poster is sooo good much better than the original.

New Moon is about Jake & Bella ! And I'm not saying this cause I'm on Team Jacob. I'm saying this because I've read the books...
the other poster made it out as if B and J were a couple now,and showed E as the guy that lost. that's totally wrong.

The original was perfect. This one was beautifully done, but yes, it is also more an Eclipse poster. Bella being inbetween Jacob and Edward would show her turmoil between the two. Edward and Jacob looking at each other would have been perfect but what would be really good would be for Bella to be holding on to Edward while she reaches out to Jacob. That would be a beautiful sign that she won't let Edward go, but she is determined to have Jacob in her life too...

I think that the light is wrong on both as well.....the movie is supposed to dark and gloomy!!!! They are both to bright....the whole new moon concept is the fact that it is dark (No moon!!!) There should be no light ball at all!!!!!!
