NewMoonMovie.org: Is Twilight Too Sexy for Youngsters?

  • twilighter01 · 11 months ago
    Alright, then.
It is up to the parents for what their children read, and what they think inappropriate or appropriate for them. Yes, in BD there are definitely sex scenes, but obviously they are not detailed. The birthing scene, of course, is quite gory, but, if everyone was so concerned about it, bump the rating up to R.
Personally, I allowed my 10 year old and my 11 year old to read all four of the books. I had read each of them before my kids, and, honestly, most 10+ year olds already know about sex, but don't talk about it with their parents.
The book was very good, and I think they should make it into a movie, and I really could care less for the movie rating. If kids wanted to see the movie, they'd definitely need the permission from a parent or, if they could wait, their parents could buy it on DvD, and they could watch it when they're more mature and more ready for it.
  • flowre112 · 11 months ago
why are you talking about sex and what are you talking about?
  • flowre112 · 11 months ago
i do not think they should not make it to ratedR at all so owwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
  • kat · 11 months ago
I do understand how some may feel that the story in the fourth one is not for everyone but i have to also say this
THANKS ALOT FOR SPOILING THE BOOK FOR THOSE OF US WHO HAVE NOT READ IT YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH AND BY THE WAY HAVE YOU SEEN WHATS ON TV NOW DAYS ??? unless you block your children from everything in life they will find otu or hear or ever see about things you dont want them too. The local sex education classes the schools offer are do it for you.
in short yes not everything is for everyone but to bash one book that a parent choose for their child is not fair it is the parents that should do their research.
  • flowre112 · 11 months ago
i know right it is so rud
  • * · 11 months ago
did you not notice the bold wording that said -> [SPOILERS FOLLOW if you haven't read Breaking Dawn!]
so dont complain about having Breaking Dawn spoiled for you...
just cause kids hear about sex and learn about it doesn't mean that they have to be encouraged to read books that are full of it. Personally i think books with sex are worse than TV/movies cause it leaves your imagination to fill in the gaps. I thought the books were very provocative. If I had kids i would not want them to read books like twilight until they were older(15ish) because kids dont need to get obsessed with sex at a young age.
  • meemomoo · 8 months ago
I kinda agree with you *. I too would wait until my girls are older but at the same time I am hoping the sex(uality) in the books will start a discussion and help make it easier for my girls and I to talk about sex
  • Caitlin · 8 months ago
Okay so im not a parent, but i am old enough to realize that parents are becoming slackers these days. Why cant a child read the book and then if they have questions ask their parents? Its because the parents are to fricken busy with their own lives that they leave their child to play by themselves and dont interact with them, a child in these days is more of a popular accessory then part of a family. I believe that if the child reads the book it is a way to start a conversation if they have questions. I love the twilight books and would reccommend them to anyone!! Also kids are obsessed with sex these days because thats what is on tv and on video games, if the fricken parent would turn the tv off and make their child put the video game down and talk to them and teach them morals than maybe we wont be having a 12 year becoming a parent!!!!
  • julie · 7 months ago
thats stupid because either way kids are gonna hear about sex eventually, and that is usually sooner than later. either from sex ed in school or from friends or they might even hear parents doing it at night and ask in the morning and would definently know then. i think that anybody over eight or nine should be allowed to read the saga because its AWESOME
  • cullenwannabe1 · 10 months ago
    i know right. for example...
TRUE BLOOD!!!!! ALL THE WAY!!!! its a good show, but theres like sex in ALMOST EVERY EPISODE IN SEASON 1. they showed BILL'S BUTT!!! I WAS NOT EXPECTING TO SEE THAT!!!!!! and when him and Sookie did it, HE MOANED!!!! THAT WAS NASTY!!!!! GROSS!!! BUT I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEASON 2.

it may not be for everyone but whats the point of starting out the saga and not completing it?
breaking dawn should be made into a movie, the book is one of the best and it ties up all the loose ends =D

    i absolutely love it

specially the fact that bella has nessie =D

that is up to the parents to decide, not the movie makers!
just like any other movie it may not be approprite but the parents are the ones to decide wether they may see it!

and i also agree that it ties up the entire story and it is completely necessary to make it into a movie! i love all of the books and the movie and it would be great if it ended up being made into a movie!

Seriously? Breaking Dawn is no worse than all the teeny bopper shows that are on cable tv. And i'm certain that 10 yr pods will not have heard about sex for the first time by reading the books. With the way kids dress and act these days, 10 yr old are like the 16 yr old of 10 yes ago.

    SPOILERS!!!

I understand that with all the gore and sex scenes that Breaking Dawn will not be suitable for younger people but if they don't think it will be suitable then why dont they raise it to a 15 (UK). In my opinion Breaking Dawn is one of the best books in the series so I really wouldn't want the movie to not be made!!
  • aperalta · 11 months ago
Think about....parents have the responsibility of what their kids see and hear. Worse things have come out in the movies today than ever before or for that fact the Songs they listen to that talks about sex which no one seems to mind that at all. It is a natural part of married life to have sex, and thus should not be left out of the movie which would be an insult to humanity!
  • Tichoux · 11 months ago
I agree if they're only going to make the first 3 then why bother?? If they don't want youngsters seeing it then slap a rated R on it, by the time Breaking Dawn hits the big screen the 16 and 17 year olds enjoying it now, will be able to see it. If a parent is stupid enough to allow or rather PURCHASE the Twilight saga for a 10 year old why all of a sudden is it the author's responsibility or the movie producers? Clearly we live in a society of blame....come on people OWN UP!
Don't punish the people the series was demographically pointed at!!
  • jill · 11 months ago
ok so twilight has some mature parts but comeon they wait to have sex until they are married!! doesnt that show good values. that is something that i want my kids to see. and honestly i dont know very many 10 year olds that would read twilight or care. this is something that is aimed at young adults. and by the way they start sex ed in 4th grade~for 10 year olds.
  • TwilightMominOH · 11 months ago
I am one of those moms that has allowed her 8 and 11 year old daughters to see the movie...more than once. I have read all of the books and my 11 year old (almost 12) is already on Breaking Dawn. Honestly, kids know that sex exists, they just don't always know exactly what it means. My oldest daughter knows what it is, so she is aware of what happens "behind the scenes" in Breaking Dawn.
As a parent, I view things before deciding whether or not to allow my children to view them as well. I find that there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the Twilight saga as a whole, with Breaking Dawn, or with the premise of making Breaking Dawn into a movie. It will be up to parents to decide whether or not to let their children see the movie.

Honestly, there is MUCH MUCH worse on prime-time network tv, in music videos, and even things going on on the school bus, than any content of these books or movies.
  • twilightx3lover · 11 months ago
seriously?? breaking dawn hasss to be made into a movie you cant just start making the books into movies and then just stop out of no where. The small children dont HAVE to see the movies? I dont even know many 10 year olds that like the saga. Also there are shows on tv alot worse than what happends in Breaking Dawn. How many of them are watching Gossip Girl? That show is pretty much as bad as Breaking Dawn
  • becca · 11 months ago
maybe their parents should take control of what their children read.
stephenie never said it was for young audiences.

there go parents again trying to put the blame on someone else for their child's problems.
  • becca · 11 months ago
i know, gossip girl is 10 times worse than breaking dawn. at least edward and bella are married. is it unusual that married couples have a lot of sex? no. they're allowed to, so why not? ugh, that ticks me off that they would go to such extremes as saying it's too "sexy". look at gossip girl, they're snorting crack, getting drunk, and sleeping with whoever they want.
  • Nessa · 11 months ago
Having read the Twilight series, I don't see what the big deal is about being appropriate for youngsters. It's not like there are detailed sex scenes in 'Breaking Dawn'. The kids that are seeing the movies and reading the books now, will be in there teens by the time book 4 is sent to the big screen. Anyway the books weren't entitled for children to read. I wouldnt expect nor allow a childer under 13 to read the series.

I'm thirteen and my whole year has read every book and seen the movie millions of times !
If they make breaking dawn a rating higher than 15 i won't get to see it
  • julie · 7 months ago
yeah i'm 13 and i've read the whole series twice and i'm starting my third time around. i've also seen Twilight (movie) literally over 100 times(i swear i did). i agree that Breaking Dawn has a lot of sex and gore but REALLY so does everything everywhere. plus we EXIST because of SEX. and in B.D. there is sex but it really doesn't have any kind of detail AT ALL. for all you know, the movie makers might decide to keep the movie PG13, i'm really kinda hoping they don't but still THEY MIGHT.
don't trash the books and don't trash the movies

I think that all this subject about BD is crup. The book was THE BEST and it will be very sad if they dont make it movie. Toooo bad!

I felt that the bool was written very tastefully where the intimate scenes are concerned. The book is intended for young adults, not children. I feel it shows that true love can wait and last lifetimes if not longer. There are quite a few values that can be learned from this love story. As far as movies are concerned.....It would be amazing to see if someone could transform the story to the big screen. There should be no problem with the scenes in question. They main details include kissing and drift off from there for the readers interpretation. There is more sex on prime time TV and the cartoon channels than there is in Breaking Dawn. I look forward to seeing it in theaters.
  • TexasRose76 · 11 months ago
Lets also consider the fact that it will be at leat 3 more years until this movie would potentially be released. So if a 15yr old is reading it now, the will be 18 by the time Breaking Dawn could be put on the big screen. And if parents don't know what their children are reading and or watching, then they might be clueless on quite a bit more.

Did you read the same Breaking Dawn that I did? I can recall no more than 6 mentions of Bella and Edward having sex. And the book was how many pages long?! I'm almost certain that there is enough of the rest of the book to make a movie that will do the book justice without making it a porno flick. Besides, there are no details about the sex itself in the book...

    Inappropriate....pfft!
  • TwilightLover21 · 11 months ago
But we all new what was implied.......that they did it ALOT!

I guess I do have to say that I did over exaggerate by saying the whole movie would be like a porno. and that we do see sex on tv like all the time. I am not saying that books are bad or filled with it. Im just saying that I would rather watch something else on the movie screen. I also agree that it is the parents choice to let your kid read and watch it.

So Angela I guess you did kind change my mind a little bit
  • becca · 11 months ago
yeah, but they would just hint at it and go to the next scene. and even emmett joked about how they never had sex. so actually, for a newly wed couple, they didn't have sex all that much. they had way too much to worry about. i'm seriously wondering if we read the same book... because i don't remember as much sex as you seem to. haha

How can you not finish the series out with a bang and give us all what we have waited for just like reading breaking dawn. if i hear one more 12 yr old with the "eww gross" i don't know what i'll do, by the time the movie comes out they will be begging for more!!

yeah it was released as a teen novel and if parents are worried about their 10 year olds um DUH they'll be teens by the time Breaking Dawn is made a movie. and i just want to see Robert Pattinson(Edward Cullen) totally naked cuz that would just be like the best thing EVER!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
also to those who are worried about the sexual content... well there probably won't be much cuz there are really only a few sex scenes and tho book doesn't have any detail(except that Edward bangs her too hard the first time) so the movie most likely won't have too much more no matter how much i wish it would :(

I really don't see the problem with Breaking Dawn being made for adults as well as young adults. Meyers didn't go into detail with the sex parts, she left alot to the imagination. Parents shouldn't take their 10 year olds to see this type of movie anyway; shouldn't they be watching Bolt or something???

I'm sure it will be very romantic and yet still tasteful. Besides, kids already see enough of sex in daytime television when their mom watch those daytime soaps.

Lovinit! I agree!! I would love to see more steamy scenes, but I know its not going to happen. Maybe it (Break Dawn) could be on the level of Cruel Intentions with Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe, although, that movie was Rated-R, I believe.

Lets also consider the fact that it will be at leat 3 more years until this movie would potentially be released. So if a 15yr old is reading it now, the will be 18 by the time Breaking Dawn could be put on the big screen. And if parents don't know what their children are reading and or watching, then they might be clueless on quite a bit more.

new moon is supposed to be out in 2009
    eclipse in 2012
    and breaking dawn in 2013
  • SnapSnap · 11 months ago
Where did you here that? New Moons release date is Nov 2009 and because they are doing New Moon and Eclipse back to back Eclipse would come out the next year. And if Summit decided that the first three of the saga movies made enough money, because remember its about how much the movie can make before they will make the last one. And Breaking Dawn can be made into a 14 A movie no problem, the sex scene aren't described in the book it can be the same in the movie. Kissing then phase out, and as for the parenting choices Thats why they are called parents if they don't want there children to see the movie or read the book then they wouldn't buy it for them or take them too it.
People are blowing this way out of proportion.

  • SnapSnap · 11 months ago
Imdb is usually only good if the movie has a set release date I'm sure they are guessing, sometimes the information isn't correct until the company sets the release date officailly, Summit hasn't said anything about the other release dates and there PR isn't making any comments, just if you wanted to know. Happy Holidays

    WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    are you serious
i already knew about New Moon but am i really going to wait 3 years til Eclipse and 4 til Breaking Dawn
    THAT WOULD REALLY SUCK
but i'm pretty sure that you're wrong because my friend said that New Moon and Eclipse would be back-to-back and SnapSnap said it too
and if Eclipse is coming sooner that you say then Breaking Dawn probably will too

ok so twilight has some mature parts but comeon they wait to have sex until they are married!! doesnt that show good values. that is something that i want my kids to see. and honestly i dont know very many 10 year olds that would read twilight or care. this is something that is aimed at young adults. and by the way they start sex ed in 4th grade~for 10 year olds.

  • jennyfer · 11 months ago
welll, the twilight saga is NOT for 10 years-old girls, its for young adults!!!!! meaning 14 and UP!!!!!!!! so i dont see why girls below that range of age are reading it and why their parents are letting them if they think its INAPROPIATE. i mean just because lil kids are reading this, and its TOO sexy for them, doesnt mean that they CANT do breaking dawn into a movie, that's like the best book, its the end!!! they DEFENETELY HAVE to make it into a movie. and if its rated "R" i couldnt care less, i'm a legal, parents should be more aware of what their KIDS are reading... breaking dawn MUST be made into a movie, they cant make like the first 3 and NOT the last one just becase KIDS might watch it.... i mean PLEASE!!!!!
  • Emily B · 11 months ago
seriously?? breaking dawn hasss to be made into a movie you cant just start making the books into movies and then just stop out of no where. The small children dont HAVE to see the movies? I dont even know many 10 year olds that like the saga. Also there are shows on tv alot worse than what happends in Breaking Dawn. How many of them are watching Gossip Girl? That show is pretty much as bad as Breaking Dawn
  • Nickerz · 11 months ago
I completely agree. I think that Breaking Dawn was the best out of all 4 books. I am 27 yrs old and i thought the story was amazing including all of the details of the passion and love. I don't have children myself but I am married and there is no way when we do have kids that i would let my elementary aged child read these books but that does not mean I don't want to enjoy them or a movie made from them!

Plus all of this hype is the same as it was with the Harry Potter Books in regards to the kids ages vs the content in the latter books. Any kid that is 10-12 yrs old now will be probably close to 15-17 yrs old minmum by the time Breaking Dawn would even be out as a movie. Are they still going to be considered too young to see it????
  • jennyfer · 11 months ago
ohhh yeah and they CANT blame stephenie or the producers or whoever because the books are "TOO SEXY". its plain simple, if you think that these books are inappropiate for your kids then DONT let the read them and that's it.... and i'm sure breaking dawn will be rated "R", or at least higher than "PG 13" . there's sooo many stuff that are strong for kids... like the birth scene, and also all the sex parts... soo stop blabing and criticizing the books or movies because as i said above, they are NOT even written for kids, its YOUNG ADULTS (14 and UP)!!!

  • Carlee Cullen · 11 months ago
its called good literature. there is no problem with breaking dawn. sex is part of life and if parents want to baby their kids then go ahead and make them immature. no need to ruin it for the mature people who read these books. and if they are so against it why read these AMAZING books or see the movies? The hot scenes make it fantastic. And i know for a fact that when i was 10 i knew about sex and didnt need a shelter. jeeze these prep moms need to chill and relize this isnt the 1960's anymore. This is the world of twilight, and they need to accept that.
  • Carlee Cullen · 11 months ago

If its that big of a deal...maybe they should make two versions of the movie...pg-13 and r (or like the unrated dvd movies that come out afterwards)...i don't think i've ever seen that done before...but there are tons of mature twilight readers who would love to see breaking dawn and all the gore and sex...you have to COME ON!!! How can you not finish the series out with a bang and give us all what we have waited for just like reading breaking dawn. if i hear one more 12 yr old with the "eww gross" i don't know what i'll do, by the time the movie comes out they will be begging for more!!

  • V-Cullen · 11 months ago
I really don't see the problem with Breaking Dawn being made for adults as well as young adults. Meyers didn't go into detail with the sex parts, she left alot to the imagination. Parents shouldn't take their 10 year olds to see this type of movie anyway; shouldn't they be watching Bolt or something???

I'm sure it will be very romantic and yet still tasteful. Besides, kids already see enough of sex in daytime television when their mom watch those daytime soaps.
  • V-Cullen · 11 months ago
Lovinit! I agree!! I would love to see more steamy scenes, but I know its not going to happen. Maybe it (Break Dawn) could be on the level of Cruel Intentions with Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe, although, that movie was Rated-R, I believe.
  • Maria · 11 months ago
Breaking Down does not really have any sex scene, just very passioned emotions (healthy if i might say). So what! A 10-15 year old can have in our days stronger and weirdest feelings. I think that all this subject about BD is crup. The book was THE BEST and it will be very sad if they dont make it movie. Toooo bad!
  • TwilightLover21 · 11 months ago
The last book is way inappropriate for a movie. I dont know about you but i dont want to watch sex for the whole movie. I think it would be fine if they changed the movie up a bit. Gave us something more interesting to watch instead.

I do believe that they should make it a movie, to finish the series and wrap it all up
  • Diana · 11 months ago

  • Carlee Cullen · 11 months ago

I think all the books are amazing, the movies just dont have to follow them to the tee
  • becca · 11 months ago
i know, i learned about sex when i was like 8. big woop, it's sex. just because 9 year olds think it's gross (well.. the normal ones should) doesn't mean they should spoil it for us. i don't see why it's that big of a deal. just make the movie, and the younger kids can see it when they get older. the whole contraversy isn't needed. the answer is obvious. make it into a movie.
  • julie · 7 months ago
    i couldn't agree more
everyone knows that their children know about sex, my brother(12 yrs old now)knew all about sex and stuff like that like 3 or 4 years ago
and i'm pretty sure that 10 yr olds even knew about sex and all that 'adult stuff' even in the '60s
i'm all for making the movie. i think Stephanie Meyer is a genious with writing and it would be an insult to many if Breaking Dawn was not made a movie

    just for the record:
ANYONE THAT DISAGREES WITH ME IS AN IDIOT
    :)
  • SaraBella621 · 11 months ago
YES! But hey, everything pretty much is ... it was released as a teen novel, not a pre-teen. It makes more money in the box office by not making the rated R, but then again maybe it should! More adults would see it than kids and let's face it, the people that work have more money than those that get an allowance. I'd love to see Bella and Edward get hot and steamy! As the series progresses ... so does Bella's relationship with Edward and she even has a baby! Sorry but if this is a spoiler for you then you shouldn't be on this site ... GO READ!!
And kids = 17 and below, please please please "be safe"

I have to say that I actually feel sorry for some of the parents of these 10 year olds because they have read the book already. How many parents do you know actually screen the book their kid is about to read? Mine didn't. Oh no it was "OMG YOU'RE READING YEAYS!!!!!!" and with television and this society that's what every parent will say. There will be ways to tone down Breaking Dawn and unforunately it will probably upset some (me included) but the way the book is written right now will cause an small uproar and possibly a failed movie, author or moviemaker's fault aside, just because there has to be SOMETHING to complain about. And there is no way that they are going to accept an 'R' rating. That would be suicide.

Did you know that in Kill Bill the fighting scenes that are in black in white are so because Quentin Tarantino had to find a way to reduce the amount of blood in his movie or they were going to give him an 'X' rating. Since they were more concerned that there was too much 'red' he changed the picture to black and white. Sooooo... black and white birth scene? I know, call Tarantino!!

Totally unrelated, or maybe not. But I was watching The Cat in the Hat with my kids the other day and was shocked when the "cat" takes a Hoe and call it "dirty ho" then licks it. So much for appropriate ratings and kid-appropriate.

So back to sex. The discretion is up to the parents. Sex isn't a dirty thing or a bad thing. Maybe if adults didn't make it such a taboo, kids would actually listen to them and have more realistic expectations (like knowing that sex is more than physical gratification and you should be responsible). Teens have urges and there is no way they will go away just by avoiding the subject and shielding them from it. Like someone said already: "at least they waited until they got married". Also by not educating themselves, they end up with an unplanned pregnancy. As for the movie, really, they can edit as much as they want. So the issues shouldn't be to make it into a movie or not.
  • Kaliie M 22 · 11 months ago

Did you read the same Breaking Dawn that I did? I can recall no more than 6 mentions of Bella and Edward having sex. And the book was how many pages long?! I'm almost certain that there is enough of the rest of the book to make a movie that will do the book justice without making it a porno flick. Besides, there are no details about the sex itself in the book...

Ok I personally would like to see it as a movie.SM did not write a bunch of raunchy sex scenes. Also they could film it in a way so you know what's going on without it being graphic even if they have to bump up the rating.Same for the birth scene. Also I agree parents should regulate what the kids watch, read,or what video games they play.
  • becca · 11 months ago
yeah, but they would just hint at it and go to the next scene. and even emmett joked about how they never had sex. so actually, for a newly wed couple, they didn't have sex all that much. they had way too much to worry about. i'm seriously wondering if we read the same book... because i don't remember as much sex as you seem to. haha

well it does not mater and if you think that they should make it to rated R and you are rong because they did not make the frist one in to ratedR and i do not think that and you should not eather
  • flowre112 · 11 months ago
i do not think they should not make it to ratedR at all so owwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
  • Amy · 11 months ago

Why are these people making the books into movies in the first place??? Leave you imagination with the books. Breaking Dawn really dose not go into much detail about sex, trying to put that on the big screen will be hard, and they will wreck the saga if they do.

Take the time to read the article that we've all commented about and maybe you'll have a clue. Why are you replying to posts if you don't know what the topic of conversation is?!
  • Angela · 11 months ago

But it would still be nice to have the movie not rated R
  • TwilightLover21 · 11 months ago
No one is saying that the books are horrbible or that they need to take out all the sex stuff! they are just saying that the movie doesnt have to be like that. They dont have to be rated R and filled with sex scenes.

I think all the books are amazing, the movies just dont have to follow them to the tee
  • TwilightLover21 · 11 months ago
I guess my memory is really bad! haha well it seems that I need to definetly go back and read the book again!
  • twilighter01 · 11 months ago
Oh, trust me, if they make it into a movie, they'll find a way to keep it as a PG-13 rating to keep the same audience, but also younger audiences. But, look, we're talking about a possibility. I wouldn't get so serious over all of this. It might not even happen.

The thing is...by making the rating PG-13, if they could find a way, it would probably make the movie kind-of...suck...

Oh yeah they don't even go into detail. It doesn't even talk about much. The worst thing that happens is they talk about sex and she is not dressed. No detail. Plus if kid's parents think their kids are mature enough to read it then it would be ok. Age doesn't matter, it's the maturity level of the kids. My neighbor read it and told my dad that the last book had lots of sex and he was overexagerating it. My dad let me read it. I would be so pissed if he didn't.

In the book Meyer doesn't actually say Edward and Bella had sex,she just puts the idea in your head so you can run with it,and the only proof that they did have sex was when Nessie was born.

did you not notice the bold wording that said -> [SPOILERS FOLLOW if you haven't read Breaking Dawn!]
so dont complain about having Breaking Dawn spoiled for you...

just cause kids hear about sex and learn about it doesn't mean that they have to be encouraged to read books that are full of it. Personally i think books with sex are worse than TV/movies cause it leaves your imagination to fill in the gaps. I thought the books were very provocative. If I had kids i would not want them to read books like twilight until they were older(15ish) because kids dont need to get obsessed with sex at a young age.

I was quite appalled to find my 9 year old daughter come home from school, because I gave her money to buy some books at the school bookstore thinking everything would be age appropriate, with all four of the Twilight books. Apparently, her school was selling them for kids of the ages 9-12. It's ridiculous.

uhh. don't complain about ruining Breaking Dawn.. It said in fine print "Spoilers if you haven't read Breaking Dawn." People shouldn't shelter their children, yes Breaking Dawn talks about sex, but it puts the point out there to wait until marriage. Most books and movies don't even put that in there && honestly in this world children know about sex by 4th grade.
  • dori · 11 months ago
Also, Breaking Dawn isn't even officially going to be made. There is a lot of talk they won't even make it. Even if they do it probably won't even be for a few years, which in case a lot of the original Twilight fan base will be at least 17 or have friends that are.

To me, the age doesn't matter. To me, it's a matter of how mature the kid reading the book is. Personally, my 8 year old and my 12 year old have both read the books because I believed they are mature enough to handle it. If, let's say, a 10 or 11 year old wanted to read the books, the parents could read it, but if it was me, I'd base my choice on how mature my child was and whether or not I thought they could handle it.

I would not read a love story without sex. I know that sounds terrible, but if I read a fantasy I want it to at least be believable lol because we know what Disney means when the couple lived "Happily ever after" ;)

ROTFL! So true! y would a love story end that way it would be boring and useless! it probably would SUCK!
  • Malia Villani · 11 months ago
im 12 and i read them all, MY mom didn't have a huge spaz over it either. My parents think im plenty mature to read it. My NEIGHBOR thought it is like talking to a mini adult when talking to me! I'm not worried about my maturity, neither are my parents.

i dont see why everone is argueing about this i babysit kids that r like 7 and 9 and they new what sex was in second grade by the time they were in 4th grade they like new every thing already. parents can do whatever they went regarding what there parental views r but truely kids in 4th grade have read through the series and know what happens when it fades out its a know brainer, and amost people in middle school are wondering why there parents r trying to shield them from r movies cause there parents dont kno what happens in there lifes cause myt little sister comes to me with questions instead of my mom and truely i dont blame her caus eshe wants to know what dffrent terms mean and i just tell her cause there gnna find out sooner or later and if they dont make it into a movie a lot of people will be petioning and other things so i dont see why they wont.

Ok so I believe in abstinence and so dose my girlfriend, so I'm all for the last book its my fav it makes the saga. so i say put the R rating on there. Just don't go sexing up the film cuz now you can i still want to go see it and be able to take my mom. This book has a good mess and I like that so parents protect your kids and watch it first, but don't tell someone else to do it for you

Twilight is NOT just for youngsters so I hope the moview stays true to the book so the MILLIONS of adults that have read can enjoy the movie. They should make it rated R but there is nothing bad or inappropriate in any of the books up to the 4th, all the rest just have kissing.
BRING ON THE ACTION IN Breaking Dawn THE MOVIE!!!

OMG! it isnt to sexy and if they want to rate the movie higher than PG then make it PG-13 orPG-14 or somewhere around those lines. they better not make it R. if they do they gonna die! its so not to sexy. besides its up to the parents what the kids read. if the parents think its ok then its ok.

i agree with jennyfer stephenie meyer probably did not have in ming little ten year olds going around reading her books. the series were written for young adults. i mean come on, first of all its about vampires! second theres love! and when u luv someone there are emotional, mental AND physical aspects.I actually think that it makes the series more believable because come on teenagers wanna have sex . Also i do'nt think the movies should be rated R because some kids have strict parents even if they are old enough. And if your ten and it says pg-13 on a movie parents shouldnt get mad at wat they see in it . the pg 13 was a warning for the immature audiences under13 to come with a parent guardian .i think that it should be rated pg 13 for language sexual situations, and nudity( because of jacobs clan and when bella gave birth.. These elements have been in pg 13 movies before why should they change just becaus' maybe little kids are reading the books' .Ppl should stop freaking out tho, its not like theryre going to show anything vulgar the book wasn't even as vulgar as it could've been so just calm down everyone and to the ppl who said don't let ur kids read the books if u think its inapropriate, those parents usually dont know wats in the book till after their child reads it. besides when i was ten i wasnt reading 750 somethin page books anyway lol
  • TwiFi94 · 11 months ago
As if thats going to stop kids going to watch it. Say in the uk if it goes up to a fifteen - kids will lie.
Plus, regarding the breaking dawn, they'll just make it like the book - a kiss leading to the bed and stop the scene there. Same for one or two times after Renesmee is born.. I feel like going to the writer of the article or whoever came up with that and going DUHHHH . Sure it might spoil the movie for some people but that's how it is in the book anyway and it would end up being a porn film if they included the sex scenes as sex is.

yeah a rating won't stop anybody
its so easy to sneak into a movie or to lie about your age
especially since this generation of teenagers has a wide range in heights and sizes just makes it easierlike my friend is older than me but shes like WAY shorter and looks 10 yrs old and my other friend is 11 but she looks like shes at least 13 and im 13(almost 14) and people look at me and think im like 15 or 16 one person actually thought i was 17
so rating the movie R (when its just like a lot of PG13 movies) isn't going to make any difference because teens are really smart, creative, and resorceful when it comes to something we really really REALLY want

Personaly i was bummed that they didnt get more detailed about the sex scenes the book would have been even better..ya common sense if ur kid is like11 or 10 then ya dont let them read it but sex is a natural part of life specialy if ur going to write a love story as compassionate as this one it would be stupid not to put the sex in there sex is a natural human feeling an emotion...

So here the thing...I am seventeen and have read/loved all the books in the Twilight saga. I do believe that parents of kids who are around the age of 10 and younger to watch what their children read. However, Breaking Dawn is not graphic at all in the books. Yes, they have sex, but it is not like they go in detail about it. It's not like they explain exactly how Nessie is made. No, Stephanie Meyer cuts off at those parts. If she didn't it would not be a young adult book, it would be Adult Fiction and would be put in the Adult Fiction section in libraries and stores. There are worse vampire books out there that 10 year olds could read. Such as the Anita Blake series or the House of Night series, and yet no one has complained about those (that I know of). The Anita Blake series is extremely graphic in sex and the House of Night talks about High School aged kids doing sexual things. But what it really boils down to is not the rating of the books or the movies. It is what parents believe their kids should be reading. It you want your 10 year old to read the Twilight saga, go for it, because my step-sister did, and she is 12. If not, then thats your own parenting style. Because lets face it kids now-a-days know about sex. If its from the T.V, the internet, hear it from a friend, sex ed classes or read it in books, they are going to find out about it. All that Breaking Dawn teaches kids about sex is that married couples have it, which most likely, they knew that already.

its not really about 'age' its about 'maturity' and like 'responsibility'
parents and adults all over the country(mabey all over the world) are freaking out because of AGE
    but thats STUPID
i mean sure its a little too much for 8 yr olds
but other than that parents should be considering their childs MATURITY LEVEL as in mature thinking and if the child is responsible enough not to go out having sex with everyone in town just because they read a tiny bit about a tiny bit of sex

i know, i learned about sex when i was like 8. big woop, it's sex. just because 9 year olds think it's gross (well.. the normal ones should) doesn't mean they should spoil it for us. i don't see why it's that big of a deal. just make the movie, and the younger kids can see it when they get older. the whole contraversy isn't needed. the answer is obvious. make it into a movie.

Im going to be so PISSED if they don't make a 4th movie. The 4th one is the best. its my favorite! AND they don't even tell you what they did all they say is "We kissed." then the next day comes. so they will do the same for the movie. and just because the parents don't like it doesn't mean that shouldn't make the movie. they don't have to see the movie.

I agree that Breaking Dawn should become a movie... preferably PG-13 because by the time it comes out i will be like 15 years old! Ther's a 50/50 chance between the rating r and pg13 because of all the sex and gory stuff which is awesome. But i think itll be sort of weird for kristen and robert since theyre good buddies... but who knows??? in 2 or 3 years, they could be dating, married, or have a kid!!! But anyway, bd isnt ALL bad, really! im only 12 and i have all 4 books, and theyre awesome. bd's my fave. its the parents choice to decide wether their children shoul read the saga or not. and its RETARTED to make books 1 through 3 into movies and not the 4th. The sex scenes, 6 alltogether, arent really even described by Steph...thats too private. Besides, if you were a vamp, wouldnt YOU make love with your beautiful vampire hubby? DDDDDDUUUUUUHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL. why the heck not!!! and the birth scene, jacob could just look or walk away. sooo...that is almost everything i have to say...FOR NOW!!!

i think that it will definitly probably be PG13 even with gore and sex because lots of movies with gore and sex ARE PG13the only reason i can think of that this movie couldbe rated R is if they put more gore and sex than there is in the book or if they just bump it up because of everyones retarded friken concerns and arguments that don't even make sense really so it should be PG13 with the sex and gore but if it is PG13 then the most nudity there will be would be someones butt and if you really think about it the film makers will most likely keep it PG13 because there will be so many people too young to get into an R movie that if they could all see the movie it would get more money than if they weren't allowed in. and since the whole point of being in the movie buisness is to either be FAMOUS, get MONEY, or BOTH, they'll probably go for the option that gets the most money

*although i wouldn't mind seeing a little nudity of Edward because hes just SO HOT ;)*

A few people have already said this, but I'll say it again, because obviously it isnt getting through to some people...

By the time the movie is made, all the 10 y.o's reading the books will be around 13 or maybe 14. And by that time... EVERYONE knows about it. Even stuff your parents think that you dont know....

Theres enough blood and gore in the Saw movies, and they're MA +15 in Australia.

Theres sex on TV and its only ever M or MA +15.

They dont have to show "all of it". Its pretty obvious that they could just skip it in the movie. Its not like some big mystery whats going to happen.

We have books in the school library where a girl has sex with her brother... that worse than Edward and Bella...

i disagree...because the book is not really sexy...it's sort of "bitin" pa nga eh. haha. lol. and edward in the story is very old-fashioned. haven't you guys read it? bella has to seduce edward first before they can make love.

and think that the 10 years old and below have the likeness to read the thick books? i think, they focus more on their toys and baby stuffs. haha.

What do you mean the 16 and 17 year olds who are reading the books....
I'm thirteen and my whole year has read every book and seen the movie millions of times !

If they make breaking dawn a rating higher than 15 i won't get to see it

I'm 14 and I think that Stephenie Meyer wrote BD really well. She was subtle about it instead of giving you all the details which I think is better because my mum would never have allowed me to read it otherwise. I know that most 10 year olds know about sex..I did but you cannot say that a mum is being over protective unless you have a child and know how they feel. Right now I'd say I'd let my children (if i had any) read it when they turned 13..since it is NOT a preteen book. But that may change when I do actually have children.

    like i said before
its not really about age (as long as they're 10+)
its more an issue of how maturely and responsibly a person will be able to respond to reading about sex
  • Bluefire111 · 9 months ago
Ok, people are gonna yell at me for this, but this my honest opinion.

Yes, the sex scenes in BD are not appropriate for some younger kids. The movie rating SHOULD go up a bit. Because the birth scene is pretty gory. But I think that teens who're fine with sex can and should read the books.

I dont know what Sex Education classes are like in america-but here in the UK they are SOOO much worse then anything mentioned in Breaking Dawn..if 10-12 year olds can watch that, why cant they watch a movie were they kiss, fade out, kiss, fade out, implied they had sex etc. etc. etc.
  • Andre Benoit · 8 months ago
I don't know what all the fuss is about. Most of the sex in BD is implied and not explicit. That being said, I still wouldn't recomend 10ish kids reading this book; Parts of it are a bit too gory for pre-teens and besides, the book deals with certain mature themes that are beyond their limited awareness and experience. My daughter is 12 going on 13 and I just bought her the first book of the series for Xmas.

I kinda agree with you *. I too would wait until my girls are older but at the same time I am hoping the sex(uality) in the books will start a discussion and help make it easier for my girls and I to talk about sex

Sex-Ed here in America is disgusting, or at least in my school it was
and they started sex ed in 6th grade when i was eleven
and i and everyone else whose not a complete retard would agree with me that sex ed was and is a LOT worse than Breaking Dawn

    "Limited Awareness"
    are you an idiot
there isn't anything "limited" about their awareness
in case you haven't noticed, THIS IS THE 21st CENTURY and literally EVERY BODY knows about and is aware of all the sex going on in the world around them
and just for the record: its more 'dangerous' if they they know about sex without actually KNOWING about it
  • 2ylite · 8 months ago

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think the sex is what makes Breaking Dawn inappropriate for younger readers. I mean, there is a lot of sex, but it's pretty much the "kiss and fade to black" variety. It's the slew of issues arising from Bella's pregnancy and the gruesome birth scene that really cement the 14+ rating for me. Here are the ones that come to mind:

-the whole issue of abortion and whether it's justified to save a woman's life
-the fact that Edward, Carlisle and Jacob are all willing to give Bella an abortion against her will
-Edward suggesting that Jacob should impregnate his wife...and possibly share her- almost like a child custody agreement

In my opinion, these ideas are just too mature for most children and young teens. As for the movie, they should make the movie true to the book and not water it down...there are plenty of Twighlight fans out there old enough to see R rated movies.
  • julie · 7 months ago
well i kinda agree with you.................. up to a point
i've never really thought about those issues as not age appropriate
but thats probably cuz they ARE appropriate enough for MY age
but those really are above the 9 and 10 yr olds

but i don't really think that it should be rated R becouse i've read that book twice already and theres really nothing 'R-ish' about it

oh- except for when Bella is totally naked looking at her bruises in the mirror after that first night
    and during Renessmees birth

but thats not really fair to rate it R because those are seriously THE ONLY PARTS that would be worthy of the R and they only really last a couple of seconds really
    :{

    THATS NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    hmph
    grr

We're all talking about whether the movie should have the sex scenes in it or not. But it depends on Kristen and Robert! You all may want to see all those sex scenes but have you thought about whether the actors approve?
  • julie · 7 months ago
    are you serious
they are both pretty good looking
and people around their age are always looking forward to sex
    and they're actors
    actors love sex

I am 11 years old but I read the Twilight Saga last year! All my friends have read it too and they think it's awesome!

I personally was hoping for some more detail within the scenes where Edward and Bella were supposed to make love. Yes, you receive the idea that they were about to make love, however you basically had to use your imagination, as there was no detail, BORING! Definantly aimed at a junior audience. I hope the next movie is aimed more toward young adults/adults. A bit of a let down.I think there are enough movies out there aimed at children. Make something for the adult population. However, with Stephanie Meyer overseeing things, there wont be any chance due to her religious beliefs. Oh well....Great series anyway.

I hear there are some pretty NON-boring fanfics out on the web these days with details gallore for your ahem reading enjoyment. :) Lol I'm no teenager by any means, but even I'm a little hesitant to read some of those; I guess I'm afraid the whole true love thing would be drowned out surrounded by words like bulge and feminine core . Lmao!!
  • Angela · 11 months ago
Seriously? Breaking Dawn is no worse than all the teeny bopper shows that are on cable tv. And i'm certain that 10 yr pods will not have heard about sex for the first time by reading the books. With the way kids dress and act these days, 10 yr old are like the 16 yr old of 10 yes ago.

welll, the twilight saga is NOT for 10 years-old girls, its for young adults!!!!! meaning 14 and UP!!!!!!!! so i dont see why girls below that range of age are reading it and why their parents are letting them if they think its INAPROPIATE. i mean just because lil kids are reading this, and its TOO sexy for them, doesnt mean that they CANT do breaking dawn into a movie, that's like the best book, its the end!!! they DEFENETELY HAVE to make it into a movie. and if its rated "R" i couldnt care less, i'm a legal, parents should be more aware of what their KIDS are reading... breaking dawn MUST be made into a movie, they cant make like the first 3 and NOT the last one just becase KIDS might watch it.... i mean PLEASE!!!!!
  • Carlee Cullen · 11 months ago
    AMEN!
  • flowre112 · 11 months ago
well it does not mater and if you think that they should make it to rated R and you are rong because they did not make the frist one in to ratedR and i do not think that and you should not eather

    YOUR STUPID!!

i think 10 is a great age for girls to be reading the saga
the problem is that your an adult and you don't know ANYTHING about todays 10 yr olds
i'm 13 yrs old- i know a lot of 10 year olds and i think they are totally fine reading the saga- ESPECIALLY Breaking Dawn- because the 10 yr olds of this day and age are a lot more mature than when you were a kid and the REAL issue that no adults seem to notice is this ......
"Are the children MATURE enough to read these books?"
"Will the children react maturely and responsibly to reading about love and sex in these books?"
if someone isn't mature and responsible enough, then they shouldn't be allowed to read the Twilight Saga yet. but if they are then they shouldn't be discouraged or stopped from reading these books. but make sure you actually know your kid before you ban the books, because it would be a waste to keep your children from this interesting and brilliantly written saga

and there are only 2 parts that only last a couple seconds in Breaking Dawn that could make it rated R
i don't really think thats fair
    actually thats very very UNfair

and i still think your stupid
and so does everyone 13 or younger who saw what you said
so a lot of people think that
  • jennyfer · 11 months ago
ohhh yeah and they CANT blame stephenie or the producers or whoever because the books are "TOO SEXY". its plain simple, if you think that these books are inappropiate for your kids then DONT let the read them and that's it.... and i'm sure breaking dawn will be rated "R", or at least higher than "PG 13" . there's sooo many stuff that are strong for kids... like the birth scene, and also all the sex parts... soo stop blabing and criticizing the books or movies because as i said above, they are NOT even written for kids, its YOUNG ADULTS (14 and UP)!!!
