I love Jack Black :) He was amazing in the holiday :) I do have a little crush on him i gotta confess :)

I think it works well for comedians to cross over and do serious or dark stuff :) Their comedy comes from a dark place :)

Robin Williams manages it, Denis Leary is all into his drama now....and i would love to have seen Bill Hicks do it...*sigh*

It really is. It reads more like a history book or a religious text than a novel for enjoyment.

But if the commentators on Tolkein are correct, that's more of what he was trying to do there, create a mythology for England that can be lasting like the Greek or Norse tales.

Well LOTR certainly made it : )

There are several other comedians I'd like to see take on a more serious
role.

I'm not normallly a big Jack Black fan, but I really enjoyed him in "The
Holiday" of course, acting opposite my favorite actress didn't hurt at all.

And stick it right next to the leatherbound copies I've already got. Those are sitting next to the paperback ones. : )
I think between that stuff and the different versions of the Twilight books coming out we could keep those publishers in business without them ever releasing anything new!
