NewMoonMovie.org: New Moon Script Finds a Way to Upsize Edward Cullen

  • Megan · 1 year ago
If she's smart she will weave Edward in and out of the story while he's gone with what he is doing while he is gone (with Stephenie Meyer's help of course). He says in the book that he tried "tracking" as James was a tracker, and he tried that on Victoria because he knew she was still out there somewhere, but inevitabiy lost her. That was the one thing I remembered him telling Bella he was doing. They could also show him leaving how he left his family for a while because he was so miserable and didn't want to inflict his pain on others (I think?). There are good ways they can keep him in the limelight still during the movie without being unfaithful to the book... by showing Edward's perspective along with Bella's during that time frame of their lives.

The whole idea behind midnight sun was to include Edward's POV but because of the leak it is something fan's will never get, and shouldn't be included in the new moon movie. This book is about Bella and Jacob's relationship and how she develops herself and her character through her loss, if Edward's POV is constantly shown then that development seriously risks being lost. However the spirit guide may work, as Bella 'hears' Edward's voice when she does something dangerous, a translucent image of Edward whispering may work.

I was thinking the exact same thing. There is no 'issue' with being faithful to the story if all they do is keep showing how Edward is dealing with being away from Bella at the same time that they show Bella coping as best she can.

Also--I'm sorry---a MOVIE that goes on and on about how depressed Bella is will be beyond boring and make for a difficult viewing. They still have to squeeze a huge book into about 2 hours! That includes all the Italy stuff, too. Liberties MUST be taken. And the entire point is the romance between Edward and Bella anyway.
  • Bevs · 11 months ago
not necessarily. that was the point in Twilight. the point of New Moon is seeing bella go from this depressed state to content with jacob, her "sun".
The majoirty of New Moon focuses on Jacob, his werewolf ways and their blooming friendship. Putting more Edward in, although desireable, would turn New Moon into something it's not.
  • nic · 11 months ago
oh my god thank you so much! it really gets on my nerves when so many people say that the movie was a disappointment to the book because they left so much stuff out but it was a huge book and they only had two hours to work with. New moon is going to be the same way and though i love all the books i was really disappointed that edward wasnt in the new moon book that much and i too would love to see his point of view when he is away from bella because he does tell her that he was not handling being away from her that well.
  • ssah · 11 months ago
I partially agree with your comment that it is highly improbable to translate a complete book onto the screen given the playtime. However, the mistake that Melissa Rossenberg made was inserting unnecessry scenes and thereby taking away vital play time from the Edward & Bella relationship development i.e. the whole bella & Charlie eat dinner at the lodge, the death of the chap on the boat (not even in the book!), the scene where bella is dropped off at the police station etc...
  • Anonymous · 8 months ago
I totally agree with you they said they had time left over and added stuff but they had it all out of sequence and if they want Edward in it more (which i don't agree with) then like you said do it only from his pespective.
  • modmama · 8 months ago
Thank you! I totally agree. I was miffed about all the extra scences they added. I really felt that Edward and Bella never really developed their relationship well enough in the movie. We are watching the 'Twilight' the movie to see the book come to life. I think we would all be fine watching a 3 hour movie, as lond as it allows the characters to develope properly.

that is SUCH a good idea. veiwing new moon as bella and edwards point of view; know whats going on with both of them. thats good :]

I guess that's how she'll do it, cause it's simple, makes sense, and easy to understand. And I want to know what Edward was up to.
  • Regan · 9 months ago
I think it'd be cool to like go to Edward's point of veiw at some points. That would show how depressed he is and how he didn't really want to leave, but had to.

I agree with Megan. We know a little bit about what Edward was doing while they were separated because he told Bella after the fact. I don't have a problem with them showing us that, rather than telling us. That stays faithful to the book and gives Pattinson screen time before the reunion.

I really don't think Pattinson would be absent for that long at any rate, even if they were strictly faithful to the book, because they're going to have to condense it to fit in all the good stuff.

As much as we need to see Bella's pain and her growing friendship with Jacob (for future reference), if that goes on and on with no Edward (Rob), I would be either sleeping or gouging my eyes out. I only made it through that part of the book because I could set it down and walk away when my frustration got too much. We can't take breaks in a movie.

I am really going to NEED some Edward/Rob action through the whole movie. Flashbacks or hallucinations are fine, whatever it takes. Actually, I think Rob would do a really good job at playing the "voice" in Bella's head and I think it's imperative that they show that she really never let's go of Edward, even "stalks" her hallucinations of him.

He IS there, with the voice she hears in her head, her dreams, her memories. He's there alot, and, you're right, filling in with what he's doing while she's pining away. I mean, what are they gonna do, show her in fetal position on her bed for 30 minutes of the movie?

I agree with everybody else. They can add the images in her head everytime she hears his voice. They can do a lot with Edward's character since Stephenie left it up to our imagination in the book in regards to what he was doing or where he was. I feel they are going to do justice in the next few movies since Stephenie does have a say on how her books are being interpreted.

Mh... I think I like it both ways..but... I think you can switch scenes and show for example the moemnt alice tells rosalie that Bella jumps of a cliff and then called Edward..that way.
And maybe a few scenes with the Volturi...

How would it be to show the Palazzo scene from Edwards point of view?-Him staying in the shadows waiting for the clock to announce his dead and then hears Bellas voice?

I think they should only show Edward when he's shown in the book.
If they wanted to show him every time Bella hears his voice or hallucinates, that would be fine.

That way, it follows the book and we still get plenty of Rob in there too.

The books are great and if the movies are going to be, they need to stick really close to the books.

    Just saying.

I agree with what everyone is saying, he is there in some ways. but i think they dont have to show him tracking victoria, because like everyone is saying they have to fit this book into a 2 hour movie, bella's depression would be the best to speed up, while allowing to follow the book.

I thought that too. They could condense her relationship with Jacob Black and continue with it into the Eclipse book with out being a 3 hour movie. I think New Moon is good, but it is slow, which may make for a slow movie. I kept thinking through the book, " where is Edward?" I couldn't see the movie doing as well if Rob Pattinson is only in the beginning and end. They need to incorporate sequences to show what he is doing in the time frame that Bella is trying to get over him.
  • keepitclose · 11 months ago
seriously? you cannot possibly think condensing new moon and eclipse into one movie could be a good thing. Some people may think New Moon was slow, but Stephenie Meyer said it herself, people should read that book twice because all through Edward's absence you're rushing through to find out if he comes back, not paying any attention to the wonderful character Jacob Black. If you re-read it you know you'll get back to Edward, and you can appreciate all the fantastic moments with Jake, and you can't leave that out of the movie. Taylor Lautner (or whoever ends up with the role) deserves their screen time, and besides, all the Edward/Rob Pattinson fans will just be able to appreciate it that much more when he comes back.
  • keepitclose · 11 months ago
oh wait, i just read the article and it says film them back to back, not condense them into one. Filming them back to back wold be okay because we'd get eclipse sooner, but we'd have to wait longer than for november for new moon :/

The problem with adding more Edward in New Moon is not just about being faithful to the book. It takes away from the growing relationship between Bella and Jacob. Bella and Jake's relationship became very strong after New Moon and if they can't capture that in this film then the other two movies (if they make the 4th) will be off, especially Eclipse.

I´ve read an article, where it was said, that they want to film new moon and eclipse together. What are ur opinions?

i think.. if you get Robert Pattison the way he should appear on new moon.. it will make chicks that are fans of twilight saga because of him not go to the movies.. while some others wanna see the book into the movie.. i'd rather not seeing R. Pattison for a while and watch Kristen do the job.. like it should!.. Hope Stephenie does something, now that Hardwicke is out of it!

They may combine New Moom with Eclipse and have Breaking Dawn as a 3rd movie. That way everybody will be happy, Team Jacob and Team Edward.

They might film the two movies back to back, the way LOTR was done, but still release them at different times in two seperate movies, not one. And it is still not confirmed that Breaking Dawn will be a movie. I do agree they should use more Robert (I'm 100% team edward) but only in the ways the book shows. Show him when bella hears his voice, maybe a little bit of what happened when he left forks, him w/ the family in alaska, show his phone call with Rosalie and when he calls Bella's house to speak w/ Charlie, how he reacted. Also showing him in Alice's visions as she sees him in Italy would be good as well. They could do both, show more Robert and keep to the books. I don't think it is their intent to change the story line, just give Robert more screen time. Give everyone what they want.

Sooo Here I Go Again.. I Said I'd Never Comment On These And This Is My Second In One Night... Ummm I Think Everyone's Too Concerned With Rob Pattinson Being In This One..It's Kinda Pathetic To See All These People Worried About One Actor.. He's Gorgeous Yes, But New Moon Isn't Really About Him... The Movie Is Based On Four Books, Not How Hot Edward Is... New Moon Isn't All About Vampires...It's About Bella And The Connection She Has With The Werewolfs/Shape Shifters... They Shouldn't Title The Movies After The Books If They Aren't Going To Follow Them.. With Less Of Rob In This One, Maybe It Will Draw More Attention To The Eclipse When He Returns... Or Maybe Not... That's Just My Opinion On The Subject...

not necessarily. that was the point in Twilight. the point of New Moon is seeing bella go from this depressed state to content with jacob, her "sun".
The majoirty of New Moon focuses on Jacob, his werewolf ways and their blooming friendship. Putting more Edward in, although desireable, would turn New Moon into something it's not.

I didn't think I'd comment again, but I completly agree with you. The movie execs are going for it because it's money. They're completly selling out, I think, if they put more pattinson in it. I do agree that it's sad. We've all read the books and know that he's not in for the majority of the book.
I'm not going to sit here and say I wasn't getting impatient through out the book because I was, but I also liked the friend dynamic between Jacob and Bella. You saw a different side of her. Plus the hallucinations were hysterical.

And to what someone said above about people not being able to sit through it - you got through the book, you can get through the movie just the same.

oh my god thank you so much! it really gets on my nerves when so many people say that the movie was a disappointment to the book because they left so much stuff out but it was a huge book and they only had two hours to work with. New moon is going to be the same way and though i love all the books i was really disappointed that edward wasnt in the new moon book that much and i too would love to see his point of view when he is away from bella because he does tell her that he was not handling being away from her that well.

Personally, I didn't like New Moon very much, I found it very, very frustrating that Edward was missing from more than half of the book. I think if they showed Edward in flashbacks and showed what he was up to while he was away (tracking and all)....then it would make a better movie. P.S. I loved the other 3 books, just not New Moon, I found it very depressing

seriously? you cannot possibly think condensing new moon and eclipse into one movie could be a good thing. Taylor Lautner (or whoever ends up with the role) deserves their screen time, and besides, all the Edward/Rob Pattinson fans will just be able to appreciate it that much more when he comes back.

oh wait, i just read the article and it says film them back to back, not condense them into one. Filming them back to back wold be okay because we'd get eclipse sooner, but we'd have to wait longer than for november for new moon :/

Movies can do that wonderful thing that books have a hard time doing smoothly. That is to tell two stories at once. Bella wasnt the only one suffering. Alice and Edward suffered as well. Lets have flashbacks to where the family is and how they are coping w/Edward and all their loss of Bella. This will take away from the moping and cut some of the werewolves out, but it's a sacrifice all movies make when they are derived from books. Give the makers credit. Twilight was wonderful as a movie and as an adaptation from a book!

Yes things change and as an avid reader I understand that. But leaving things out and editing so that the film is good is one thing and something that you expect. Changing the storyline is something that shouldn't be done and that is what will happen if they add more Edward and the other Cullens.

Please more Rob Pattinson! The whole magic of this saga is about the love between Bella and Edward., not Bella and Jacob..I know he's a good friend and all, but this is modern day Romeo and Juliet, who needs more emphasis on a third wheel.. Stick to the book, but include Rob where you can, as per comments above. flashbacks, hallucinations, his time away.etc.. I dreaded the whole Jacob part.. couldn't wait to find out when Edward would return.. New Moon was depressing.. GO TEAM EDWARD!!

I think more Robert Pattison would be really nice.He hardly has that much of a role in new moon .They should try and show the love of Bella and Edward more than the realationship of Jacob and Bella .

I think people should just go expecting a good movie, not the book. They can't make them exactly like that. If the movie is just 2 hours, they'll be a lot less jacob time, compared to the book...People should just let go of the books vision and just enjoy the movie vision, it'll always be different..Look at the Stephen king movies for example

Although I'm a Robert Pattison fan I enjoy the Twilight Saga and think that Summit should stay true to the books. In New Moon It is mostly about Bella and Jacob's story. You can't and more Edward even if it is in dreams or flashbacks because Bella couldn't think of him or it tore her apart. She couldn't even say his last name without falling to pieces.Let Edwards big part come when Bella finally saves him in Italy.

I think the New Moon movie should show the development of the love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob with of course, Jacob becoming closer to Bella and helping her to recover from her lost love. But what i would hate and be really disappointed with is if they show Bella easily falling in love with Jacob and illustrating any form of love affection for Jacob, especially kissing etc. It is true that Bella could not bare to utter Edward's name, nonetheless, she was engulfed (in her mind) with his voice and that i believe they can demonstrate in the movie effectively with scenes of Edward telling her to stay away from trouble etc. Also, focusing the movie solely on Bella's and Jacob's relationship without any of the pain Edward and the rest of the Cullens family was enduring while they had to leave. What are your thoughts about the movie being atleast 2:15 or 2:30 minutes. I believe true Twilight fans wouldn't mind just as how true Lord of the Rings fans didn't mind sitting down for 3hrs. But this ids just a thought...i would love to hear you reactions on this hour thing.

However, the mistake that Melissa Rossenberg made was inserting unnecessry scenes and thereby taking away vital play time from the Edward & Bella relationship development i.e. the whole bella & Charlie eat dinner at the lodge, the death of the chap on the boat (not even in the book!), the scene where bella is dropped off at the police station etc...

i think that they shouldn't try to put edward in new moon like they are trying to do. i don't think they should even try showing how is he coping with the breakup because they whole point of new moon was that the reader and bella both didn't know when or if edward would return. the heartache, the pain, it was all part of the reason why new moon was such a great book... although edward is the best character of the whole series, they should focus on jacob and bella because that is what actually happens

This is what i think should happen: get a more fathful movie to book ratio cuz we didnt get one when twilight came out... and when she hears edward; cliff diving for example we should be staring at bella nd then we see edward behind her then she quickly turns around and he disapeers (but he was never there) and then they have the whole converstion bella says hers out loud then jacob comes to her and asks her if shes ok then she just jumps and you hear edward yell !!!!!! thats my ideals for new moon

I agree with you with having Bella talk out loud when hearing Edwards voice and i like the idea of the ghostly image of him. BUT if Jacob is with her on the cliff then Alice wont see her jump because she can't see ware wolves and that is how Stephanie starts reintroducing the Cullens. Alice thinks Bella has killed herself so comes back to see if Charlie is ok. If Jacob is there how will she know?

I'm sad that they didn't listen to Hardwicke.. It makes it so obvious that they're only trying to cash in on Pattinson's appearance.. And I'm sad that all those "fans" can't see that.. Obviously they don't see how important a female director is to this story - a female's point of view.. I'm afraid the sequel will turn into a disaster with emphasis on special effects and typical hollywood screening.. It's showbiz..

They want to find a way to give Robert a bigger role than the book calls for without making major changes to the story line. i read the book and still I wanted to see more of Edward on new moon. Let’s just accept the fact that Edward’s character do major contribution on the success of the film, not everyone read the book but still it became a major hit. Many people who have seen the movie have not read the book yet and does not completely understand the plot os the story, so if there will be less Edward its a high risk to take like that there might be less viewers because the main reason the non-readers buy the story of twilight was because of the character (mostly Edward's character). So all they care about is that they wanted to see more romance from Edward and Bella.

dont get me wrong, im team edward all the way, although my heart broke when he told her he would find other distraction" (really what the hell did he mean by that?) but i think there should be just the right amount of him. show him in the hallucinations and whenever she hears his voice. that being said, i dont really think kristen stewart had alot of personality in twilight, so unless she got more acting lessons, i dont want to sit through a hour of her whining and being boring. i also think that alot of people wont like how strong jacob comes onto bella, and not having edward there to rip his head off. i love edward so the more of him the better!!!!!!!

ok i understand where summit is coming from but i totally agree 10 times more with catherines view...most of the revenue from the twilight box office was earned from hardcore fans. And im sure those unimagingable number of fans with stick more faithfully to the series if it is closer to the book. The true fans wouldnt want more edward in it because THAT IS the story of New Moon and it makes the renunion scene at the end withbella and edward all the more powerfull. i feel bad for catherine cause she stuck up for the fans so thank u for sticking up for us fans.

I don't think that the point of new moon will have as much of an impact if they put to much Edward in it while he is away. In Twilight we all Fell in love with Edward not just because he's a spunk but because of who he is and his relationship with Bella. New Moon Uses his leaving Bella to set up the relationship with Jacob. I believe that if they take away from that relationship[ (and I think having in more Edward will) that it will detract not only from New Moon but from Eclipse and Breaking Dawn if they decide to make it. There is enough story line that is going to be lost (as there always is when you make a movie out of a book) but can you imagine what else will be lost to put in glimpses of Edward that arne't meant to be there. If you want more Robert use more of his music. We love that as well.

Yes things change and as an avid reader I understand that. But leaving things out and editing so that the film is good is one thing and something that you expect. Changing the storyline is something that shouldn't be done and that is what will happen if they add more Edward and the other Cullens.

:( no no no no no i love edward and robert soo much but thats not the point!
as much as i want to see edward more in new moon i dont think its going to have the same effect as the book did if they put him in more.

if they are going to put him in then i think if they did it through dreams and flash backs that thats the best way but ive heard that their going to follow edwards side of the story too n i just dont see how they can stay true to the story if they do that! part of the reason that the new moon book was so good was that u began to feel like bella, you wanted to hear edward as well you were almost reading just so you could hear him again, if they follow his story as well i just dont think you going to get that feeling :( plus cathrine did such a good job on twilight i hate it when they do this you can tell when they change directors, some of the original feeling that you get from the first movies is lost. We all love edward but we all love the storyline as well. the film should stick with the book as much as possible it just wont be the same :(.

Believe me, I love Edward as much as the next person. I would love to see more of him in the movie but that can't happen. The movie needs to stay as true to the book as much as possible. Edward can only come back as a hallucination and that's all because Bella doesn't think she will ever see him again and it devistates her. The book focuses on Bella being "broken" when Edward leaves her. Jacob is the one who saves her and brings her back to the land of the living as she says. We need to see the development of that friendship/love between Bella and Jacob to understand the struggle that she has with the two most important people in her life. Also, focusing on the relationship between Bella and Jacob and showing her confilct with her feelings for him will make the reunion with Edward that much more powerful because its the moment that she sees Edward again that she realizes what she had Jacob for. He was her "Paris", just a stand in when her one true love wasn't there, and the relationship that they develop has to carry over into the next movie. There is no way to do that if they take away from their time just to put in unreal and unnecessary scenes of Edward.

He was her "Paris", just a stand in when her one true love wasn't there, and the relationship that they develop has to carry over into the next movie. There is no way to do that if they take away from their time just to put in unreal and unnecessary scenes of Edward.

I guess that's how she'll do it, cause it's simple, makes sense, and easy to understand. And I want to know what Edward was up to.

i agree with delia.just put edward in the helusinations and parts of the movie he should be in .i mean i looooove edward but he should wait for his part.and if edward is in the movie too much the bond wont seem as strong between bella and jacob as it is in the book and they have to fit it in to like 2 hours so im sure it will be fine without edward in the picture every2 seconds!

Agreed - let's show Edward's suffering side by side with Bella's suffering - I don't need to see his tracking - so much as how little he copes without her because I was so angry with him for leaving I really need to know that he suffered. He so under-estimated her love. How dare he?! It fleshes it all out for us if as she gets stronger he descends and I'd REALLY like to see him approach the V. in Italy and ask to die after we see him make that fateful call. I'm also very happy to see Midnight Sun becoming a full on book it's lyrical - I love Edward's obsessing!

I am worried about Melissa Rosenberg's script of New Moon given what she did with Twilight. I understand the film adaptation never lives up to the actual book. But the most important scenes and dialogue that were integral to establishing Bella's & Edward's passion, love, and commitment to each other in the book were either completely altered or removed from the movie. There was no build-up of passion in the movie at all. The filmmakers should have stayed faithful to Stephenie's vision in Twilight. There's is no need to "simplify" the plot, or "add" more action. Why have fans fallen in love with the saga? It's the emotional connection that Stephenie created with her characters...not just Bella and Edward, but with all the other characters as well. That is what the filmmakers need to capture and convey on screen. And that will only work with a well-written script that stays true to the books. There is an interview on Twilight Lexicon with Melissa Rosenberg, the screenwriter for Twilight and the sequels. She admits she "had very little contact with Stephenie initially" and she wanted to bring her "own vision to it." We are watching these movies expecting Stephenie's vision...not Melissa Rosenberg's vision. So many fans, myself included, were saddened and disapppointed by the film's treatment of pivotal scenes from the book, like the meadow. I truly hope Stephenie insists
that the sequels do justice to her books and her devoted fans.

I think they should keep it as close to the book as possible
but they should show edward while he is away and stuff trying to track

and when bella thinks he is there. But if they change it around to much it will

ruin the whole meaning of the book. and why can it only be two hours long there is moving that

are like four hours long im confussed ?

This is what I say...They should keep it close to the book. As close as they can...because it would upset ALOT of vewers (expecialy Jacob lovers) if they changed it. This is suposed to be mostly Jacob's movie! His time to shine and our time to get to know him more. BUT if they change it, and add more Edward..Every one will pay more attention to Edward. These movies are suposed to get you thinking...Who should she pick? They are both so sweet. Edward is so perfect, but she can grow up with Jacob and he is sweet. If you have Edward more in this movie, nobody will stop and think, it wont be as thrilling.

Edward isn't really in New Moon sadly! But New Moon is Jacob's book really! I love Edward like really love him but after all it is Jacob's book and therefore Jacob's movie! Yeah maybe we could have flashbacks and stuff but Jacob's part has to be sorta bigger than Edward's in this movie! Edward has such a big pert in the other books so now its Jacob time! New moon was depressing but thats the way it was ment to be! The way it was wrote and the way it should come out on the big screen!

if you don't show bella and jacob's relationship develop, there would be no point to eclipse. eclipse is where bella is confused between her love for jacob and edward. although, she knows she cannot live without edward, jacob becomes a big part of her life, and you need to see her relationship develop with him. there are cool ways to show her depressed without her lying in a ball for 30 min. like the way she always grabs her stomach, or her bad dreams. plus, most avid twilight fans wouldn't mind a 3 hour+ movie, just so it will stick to the book. New moon is esssential to the werewolve story too. even though i love me some rob pattinson, shwoing him more for money is not faithful to the books. it's the loss bella feel's that builds their strong relationship for the rest of the series. you need to see that suffering.

I think that if they want to show more of Rob they can show him in a ghost form when Bella hears Edward in her head. This will then show more Rob because that is what they want. They just need to stick to the book and show the relationship between Bella and Jacob. Most of the book is about that and not really that much of Edward except for when Alice comes for Bella. Sure I would love to see Rob too, but it mostly is about Bella dealing with her pain and learning it while being with Jacob. They need to show key points that lead into the third book. They did not do that in the second book such as the part where Bella learns about the Valturi. That is important information to those who have not read the books. I would love for them to put in the part when Roseali talks to Edward and tells him about Bella. That I think would really set the tone for when they are in Italy. But who knows what they will do.
  • erica · 8 months ago
yeah i totaly agree, i think that they shoud show Edward as a ghost image when she hears his voice in her head too. I dont think that they should but the part in about him tracking Victoria though because it tells you that in Eclipse, they should just include that in Eclipse instead. Aswel as that i think that they should just add in a bit of what edward is doing in Italy too. Yeah true its about Bellas pain without Edward and healing it by Jacob, but as it is all going on she keeps thinking about what Edward has said to her before he left "it as if i never existed", so thats something that could be in there, like she could be having flash backs of that and him saying it, so really it is about Edward too in a way that Bella is thinking about him. I think they should show that part about Rosalie telling Edward about Bella too, they could show Alices vision or something.
As it is though Jacob does have to have a big part in it, and so it should stick to that. This is really the book that sort of introduces the warewolves so it should be more about them than Vampires fo most of it. Anyway i guess that whatever they do for New Moon will be good just like Twilight.

you guys are stupid!!!!! (well not all of you.) if they added more Edward into the movie it wouldnt be the same thing as the book. Personally, I loved the book. Even though I was missing Edward the whole time, I enjoyed Jacob and Bella becoming friends. If they added scenes where they showed Edward tracking Victoria and whatever else he was doing people wouldnt be wondering through the whole movie where he was or if he still loved Bella. I think it would take away from the doubtful feeling that you would have of Edward. It would only make sense for him to be in it during Alice's visions, Bella's dreams, or Bella's hallucinations.

Alot of people are getting an idea that New Moon will will limit Rob/ Edward character i read on one of the article that they want to keep the story closer to the book but instead of using Rob's voice/ Edward they will use an images of him. And almost have of the book anyways was mostly spend on Bella and Edward. Son no worries its always a misconception we all need to read the new moon book 6 times for us to really understand the story, I hated Jacob when i first read the book and i even skip his alot of chapters in the book because i was looking for Edward/Bella being together again. Then when i got to Eclipse, breaking dawn i realized i need to re read it again to understand very well. Support NEW MOON or else we won't be seing Breaking Dawn

okay. i agree with more edward. but lets stick with the book. i hate when movies go soo off track. there can still be edward in it. i mean look at all the times bella hears his voice! go with tiny flashbacks of when he said that to her in real life. it would be simple. if they go jacob all the way no edward till the end i will walk out! it will be boring and stupid. as for alot of jacob, there has to be! he IS like the whole book. getting to know jacob. and yes we need to see bella's pain but not the months of it, just go like the book.. like just show the month and show 2 seconds of bella crying for each month. people will get the picture. its not that complicated really. just look at it literally. go by the book and everything will be AMAZINGG!!!!

I agree. I really hope the movie stays true with the book. The old director did okay but there were a few things I think could have been added, or taken out, or changed. Hopefully this new director doesnt do too much with the movie. No matter what, I trust the cast and im still extremely excited!

i am kind of exited for new moon but i was heart broken to find out that bella and edward broke up and half the book is about jacob i just hope the movie does not change to much or i am done with this twilight thing i hope the new director will keep the ending the same...........................................

They've confirmed that Edward will feature a lot in this but the majority will be in Bella's dreams.
  • katrinaSAURUS · 7 months ago
I think the directors should just say true to the book and not really change anything, because the readers wouldnt want to see a movie that is barely like the book. So I don't understand why they have to change and add all these scenes that had nothing to do with the book what so ever, it just wouldnt make sense. [i read all the books, and new moon was just very depressing because yes edward left bella & that was just sad cause she was so lonely & trying to figure out why]. Catherine Hardwicke did a very good job at directing it but in a lot of ways she ruined it by adding scenes that didnt belong and didnt exactly fit in, she might've tried to put it all together but it really had nothing to do with twilight. So I am hoping that the new director will make a better movie, and not ruin it for us readers.

I think we should see more of Jacob Black. He is so hot and my favorite character in the whole saga. I even think that bell should end up with Jacob. He loves her more than Edward ever could. He would of never left her.
  • jenny · 7 months ago
I do not think that is necessary to put more Edward. Jacob Black is more than enough. New Moon is about him and Bella.
  • blank · 7 months ago
All of you need to keep in mind that the Twilight series are all in Bella's perspective...not Edward's. If Stephanie Meyer wanted the readers to know what Edward was doing while he was away, she would have added his perspective into the plot line. Twilight was about Edward and Bella's growing relationship while New Moon is about Jacob and Bella's growing friendship. Having the audience know that Edward is still protecting Bella from a distance and is completely miserable with totally distract the audience from Bella and Jacob. Jacob wouldn't even have a fair chance with the audience. Rob Pattinson is going to be within the entire movie, but he will be in dreams and hallucinations. His POV will not be discussed until the very end.

This is a hard one to answer really. For one, I totally agree on them staying true to the New Moon book most definitely. But at the same time, who really wouldn't like to see more of Edward in it. And I do not think that New Moon was slow. Stephenie Myer took us to another level of her creativity. New Moon is about Edward trying to do what he thinks is best for Bella. And if it wasn't for Jacob Black then who knows what the outcome might have been for Bella and Edward. I do agree that they should definitely keep the ending the same. The yellow porsche and all ! ! ! But at the same time I think the director should let us see how Edward was really handling the choice he made. Oh, one more thing. I'm going to miss Catherine Hardwicke for sure!!!

After reading the Midnight Sun, I had a second thought of Edward not really leaving Bella in New Moon. As you all know, Edward could not live without seeing Bella even for a second. He's madly in love with her. He left her so that he could fulfill his mission despite of the fact that his decision would also hurt him tremendously. It was a sacrifice that he needed to do for Bella's sake. I am glad to hear that the scriptwriter and director of New Moon have tweaked the screenplay by adding more scenes of Edward...hoooray!!!
  • Jamie ( girl ) · 6 months ago
OMG, i love twilight, iIf she's smart she will leave Edward in and out of the story while he's gone with what he is doing while he is gone (with Stephenie Meyer's help of course). There are good ways they can keep him in the limelight still during the movie without being unfaithful to the book... by showing Edward's perspective along with Bella's during that time frame of their lives

I'm going to miss Catherine Hardwicke for sure!!

Well, I think to those of you who say that it will be boring watching Bella being depressed, I feel sorry for you, because that's the book. I do agree that liberties must be taken. that fact that there is the Italy scene and the whole "you killed my mate" coming from Victoria, i dont see how they can fit it in in less that 2 hours. I say lets Lord of theRings this sucker and make it 3, 3 and a half. I dont think any of us fans would have a problem with that, ey? Weaving Edward in more is smarter though, I think in the book steph is trying to get across, that her obsession is worsening, the opposite of what Edward wanted, and that yes, Jake is gradually filling that hole, but that makes it even worse for her. Having him in every other Dream Sequence would really show how depressed she was. With the wolves, I have seen some clips and what not, in my mind while i was reading New Moon i imagined them MUCH bigger, judging by how tall and huge these guys get, I would think the wolves would be monstrous, not normal sized wolves. I dont know, thats just me. Anyways, those are my thoughts, I think someone needs to get ahold of the director and knock some sense into him!

there are so many ways they could give pattinson more screen time without going too far away from the book. for example, bella "hears" edward's voice a lot when in times of danger. so, instead of just hearing him, they could have edward standing behind her saying everything. it's not like she has to be looking at him or anything. it's just like a physical representation of what's going on in her head. it makes the adaption from the book a lot easier for the cast and crew when trying to shoot those scenes while staying as real to the book as possible. also, he could have a lot of face time towards the end, like in alice's visions.

STOP COMPLAINING THE MOVIE WILL COME OUT HOWEVER IT COMES OUT. AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN TUFF! JUST GO READ THE BOOK AGAIN. WE ALL KNOW THAT THE WAY WE SEE IT COULD NEVER BE PUT INTO A TWO HOUR MOVIE SO THERE IS NO POINT IN f****** COMPLAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
