Also--I'm sorry---a MOVIE that goes on and on about how depressed Bella is will be beyond boring and make for a difficult viewing. They still have to squeeze a huge book into about 2 hours! That includes all the Italy stuff, too. Liberties MUST be taken. And the entire point is the romance between Edward and Bella anyway.
The majoirty of New Moon focuses on Jacob, his werewolf ways and their blooming friendship. Putting more Edward in, although desireable, would turn New Moon into something it's not.
I really don't think Pattinson would be absent for that long at any rate, even if they were strictly faithful to the book, because they're going to have to condense it to fit in all the good stuff.

I am really going to NEED some Edward/Rob action through the whole movie. Flashbacks or hallucinations are fine, whatever it takes. Actually, I think Rob would do a really good job at playing the "voice" in Bella's head and I think it's imperative that they show that she really never let's go of Edward, even "stalks" her hallucinations of him.

And maybe a few scenes with the Volturi...
How would it be to show the Palazzo scene from Edwards point of view?-Him staying in the shadows waiting for the clock to announce his dead and then hears Bellas voice?

If they wanted to show him every time Bella hears his voice or hallucinates, that would be fine.
That way, it follows the book and we still get plenty of Rob in there too.
The books are great and if the movies are going to be, they need to stick really close to the books.
Just saying.

I'm not going to sit here and say I wasn't getting impatient through out the book because I was, but I also liked the friend dynamic between Jacob and Bella. You saw a different side of her. Plus the hallucinations were hysterical.
And to what someone said above about people not being able to sit through it - you got through the book, you can get through the movie just the same.

as much as i want to see edward more in new moon i dont think its going to have the same effect as the book did if they put him in more.
if they are going to put him in then i think if they did it through dreams and flash backs that thats the best way but ive heard that their going to follow edwards side of the story too n i just dont see how they can stay true to the story if they do that! part of the reason that the new moon book was so good was that u began to feel like bella, you wanted to hear edward as well you were almost reading just so you could hear him again, if they follow his story as well i just dont think you going to get that feeling :( plus cathrine did such a good job on twilight i hate it when they do this you can tell when they change directors, some of the original feeling that you get from the first movies is lost. We all love edward but we all love the storyline as well. the film should stick with the book as much as possible it just wont be the same :(.

i really hope they have these main parts in the movie:
1, when bella gets the paper cut,
2 when edward leaves =(
3 when jake changes for the firs time
4, when bels jumps off the cliff
5, the whole ittly scene!!!

but they should show edward while he is away and stuff trying to track
and when bella thinks he is there. But if they change it around to much it will
ruin the whole meaning of the book. and why can it only be two hours long there is moving that
are like four hours long im confussed ?

and stephenie meyer wrote it so that we thought Edward really didnt want her.
you see my point?

And GO TEAM EDWARD!
And GO TEAM EDWARD!
As it is though Jacob does have to have a big part in it, and so it should stick to that. This is really the book that sort of introduces the warewolves so it should be more about them than Vampires fo most of it. Anyway i guess that whatever they do for New Moon will be good just like Twilight.
am worried about Melissa Rosenberg's script of New Moon given what she did with Twilight. I understand the film adaptation never lives up to the actual book. But the most important scenes and dialogue that were integral to establishing Bella's & Edward's passion, love, and commitment to each other in the book were either completely altered or removed from the movie. There was no build-up of passion in the movie at all. The filmmakers should have stayed faithful to Stephenie's vision in Twilight. There's is no need to "simplify" the plot, or "add" more action. Why have fans fallen in love with the saga? It's the emotional connection that Stephenie created with her characters...not just Bella and Edward, but with all the other characters as well. That is what the filmmakers need to capture and convey on screen. And that will only work with a well-written script that stays true to the books. There is an interview on Twilight Lexicon with Melissa Rosenberg, the screenwriter for Twilight and the sequels. She admits she "had very little contact with Stephenie initially" and she wanted to bring her "own vision to it." We are watching these movies expecting Stephenie's vision...not Melissa Rosenberg's vision. So many fans, myself included, were saddened and disapppointed by the film's treatment of pivotal scenes from the book, like the meadow. I truly hope Stephenie insists
that the sequels do justice to her books and her devoted fans.
This is a hard one to answer really. For one, I totally agree on them staying true to the New Moon book most definitely. But at the same time, who really wouldn't like to see more of Edward in it. And I do not think that New Moon was slow. Stephenie Myer took us to another level of her creativity. New Moon is about Edward trying to do what he thinks is best for Bella. And if it wasn't for Jacob Black then who knows what the outcome might have been for Bella and Edward. I do agree that they should definitely keep the ending the same. The yellow porsche and all ! ! ! But at the same time I think the director should let us see how Edward was really handling the choice he made. Oh, one more thing. I'm going to miss Catherine Hardwicke for sure!!
