IMO it would be extremely hard (if not totally impossible) to show exactly what NM's about on one poster... This poster shows one aspect of the story - it concentrates on the somehow "dark & twisted" Bella-Edward-Jacob triangle. I think it's good that this aspect defines the 1st NM poster, cause (imo, again) it digs deeper, way beyond Bella's grief after Edward's departure. It wouldn't be 100% ok with me if I knew that there'll be no more posters, but we all know that there are more to come :)
And that's the thing I love about the poster - it can be interpreted in so many different ways! :)

but I absolutely agree about the colouring of the poster... Twilight blue schemes associate with vampires while the warm rusty, forest-like colours stand for the wolves... Twilight for Edward, New Moon for Jacob :)

This poster doesn't seem like it's as good as it could be, it's a bit repetitious (doesn't it look like they ripped off a fan-made poster).
I guess I just wanted something that was different from what we have been seeing before.
They should pay some of the people who created some of the really good fan-made posters to make the next one.

i love it and i actually think that they they should add some really goOd fanmade picturs like the one in which jake´s face is half human half wolf or the one in which bella is hugging edward n the forest but edward is transparent which means his not there anymore....... i almost cried with this one i must confess........

In the poster it seems kind of like Bella is afraid of Edward. And she's way too close to Jacob, it seems too romantic. I get the wrong idea here. I think this poster could be improved significantly if her hand wasn't resting on Jacob's arm, but actually reaching out a little towards Edward.

If new comers take in the subtle hints of it, that Nomenstars so amazinqly pointed out, they would be able to tell thats theres qonna some kind of conflict between Edward and Jacob but they wouldn't know exactly whats qoinq on[which is probably the point of this poster]. The more personal posters will probably show more of Bellas Devastation =)

But there are way better fan made posters out there I think they should have just let a fan make the poster it would have been better than this. I am still excited that it came out and I like that bella, edward and jake are in the front its just missing something.
Besides, I think Edward should have been somewhere in the back, he's mostly present in the book via Bella's memories, so shouldn't he be just a hint on the poster...?Or at least not be on the first plan?

I immediately loved--LOVED--the way Jacob is between them, with Edward glancing at Bella, looking haunted all the while. Jacob is in a protective stance, looking hatefully backward in Edward's direction as he stands between "the dumper" and "the dumpee." It is very significant that they are showing a PERSON between the same fated lovers from the Twilight posters. And this person doesn't look happy that Edward has any place there by them. Oooo, drama, we love it so! <3
The Twilight posters, as gorgeous as they were, didn't hold much (if any) depth to them. They were just pretty faces of a benevolent-looking vampire and a normal girl who obviously loves him. This New Moon poster by itself tells an ENTIRELY new story and totally blows the Twilight posters away. There is no perfect happy romance here. Edward no longer looks benevolent or sure of himself... he looks excrutiatingly *un*sure. And Bella does not look like the same, satisfied girl in love. She looks lost & incomplete now... grasping onto Jacob when there is no one else. And her expression is the epitome of anti-recovering zombie girl who hears her beloved's voice whispering words of caution. She's not looking at Edward in the poster because Edward is GONE. She's looking at us, the readers, the audience, the only people (including the two boys she loves) who know the full extent of what goes on in her head and her heart.
The studio could have done something simple and lame with absolutely no meaning or significance--just three pretty faces hovering over a pretty background. But no. They put thought into this and I love that they did. Some people are never satisfied, and that's their loss.
I've seen some amazing fanposters, but this poster is also very much all kinds of fabulous and does what every good movie poster should do--catches your attention and sparks questions so you will want to see the film.
All in all it's an okay poster and nice to finally see an "official" one, I don't think Edward should have been featured so prominently but I know that the studio will be "motivated" to keep him in the limelight due to RPatz popularity amongst the crowd that will spend the most money on this stuff.
I can't wait to see Taylor take on a bigger role! Bella looks great, relaxed/worried/comfortable. I dunno, so many things. Edward looks possesive...possesed. Like GTFO here mongrel!

I love how Edward looks torn. Jacob looks protective and fierce. And Bella does looks just like you said, "a mix between determined and devastated".
Please spare us with the over analyzed assumptions on what the poster portrays. It was a feeble attempt. Lets just just hope this isn't a prelude of what is to come.
Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge fan of this series. I'm just not willing to sell out just because it has Robert Pattinson front and center. I think half the fan made posters have been a million times better. I am just sick and tired of the teenie bopper fans selling out and rolling over to the mediocre attempts by the studio. If a teenage girl can make an amazing poster from home, you better believe I'm setting the bar high for the studio heads that raked in close to half a billion dollars for twilight.

its beautiful..I mean its just perfect who ever made that should be awarded!
This poster is sepia and brown toned. More earthy colors. The brown jacket Bella is wearing shows how in New Moon she starts to relate more to the Wolves because of Edward's absence.
I do like your explanation of the hands!! That's a super unique way to look at it and I completely agree. The Twilight saga holds a lot of symbolism so naturally the movie posters are going to be created around the symbolism.
I honestly think the art director and creator of the Twilight Saga posters is a genius. I've NEVER seen ANY poster that can tell the story and reveal the plot but at the same time keep it hidden and leave viewers captivated.

there's so many things wrong with it.. the only good thing is that Rob looks so hot and his jaw ling is soo sexy!
I hate how Bella is holding on to Jacob.
I hate how Kristen doesn't even look sad or depressed, just bored - she is so EMOTIONLESS! I thought that would change for New Moon.. but nope she still has the dull face and figure.
I hate how Jacob is extremely protective... I thought he was the more laid back, careless, happy Jake. Edward is the protective one.
Rob looks bored too, not agonized and tormented enough like Edward should be, but he looks the best in the picture so I'm not complaining.
Overall this doesn't fit New Moon at all, it is more like an Eclipse poster. But then if it was Eclipse it should be Rob in Taylor's place being protective over Bella and her holding on to him and Jacob looking at them the way Rob is looking.
!. Bella is kind of leaning on to Jacob for support (like she does in the book) but her hand also looks like she is ready to push Jacob aside for Edward (which she does in the book)
2. Emotionless is actually perfect for New Moon - she compares herself to a Zombie and Charlie tells her she is lifeless.....she's just going through the motions of life
3. As a human (i.e long-haired) Jacob was laid back and carefree but once he has changed (short-hair) he becomes much harder and angrier especially towards the vampires
4. Edward has turned his back on Bella (allowing Jacob to come become between them) but he can't stop himself looking back as he is still deeply in love with her.
Now if you've already read the books, you might get better that Bella longing for her, Jacob protecting her from what hurt her and what he thinks will hurt her (though I don't think it was that selfless), and Bella looking for Edward hoping to see him. But that's not what you first get when you watch this poster. And imo it should give the audience a more real idea of what's happening in NM without saying too much.
Now, Robert looks better in this poster than in Twilight's, more natural looking though still dangerous vampire looking. Taylor's eyes look weird, all I can see is white and Kristen looks like she's more interested by looking good and innocent on the photo... And the background is much too simple to my taste.
Oh and everytime I see 11.20.09, I'm glad it'll be 11.18.09 here, 2 days sooner is a great gift to me lol
( also, Edward's whole makeup/costuming looks fantastic! )

Jacob she didn't deserve. Their entire relationship began with her using him in Twilight for information. Then her using only became worse in New Moon. But that is a totally different conversation that just irritates me lol.
lol and its okay, i was just curious. i dont think bella treated edward unfairly. as stephenie said, she didnt notice her love for jacob, if she did know she would've done things way differently and avoided a lot of mistakes and heartache for herself and others.

And so would of many more as proven, unscientifically, but wth, it's still a poll. The one done by this site a while back. At first Edward had a significant lead and now as more people have joined this site and grown to appreciate taylor as Jacob. Jacob and Edward are head to head, both with 42% of the votes.
I mean without Jacob in NM, what would the book be about? Bella sulking in 500+ pages of the book. It wouldn't even be that long because she would of been dead either by Laurent or by drowning. Thanks to Jacob, Edward has Bella.
For anyone who has read other books other than twilight, the greatest books have always had a triangle of sorts that gives you the page turning appeal. And That's what made the Twilight series great; Edward, Bella, Jacob, and all the other most significant characters too! Not one is less significant than another!
Like you said, all the other characters are most definitely ALL, all Significant and Important too.
Each with their backround past and present way of life that we each found a way to relate to one way or another to one or another of the characters, and it adds to the foundation of the books and helps carry the story!
Not one is less significant than the next. That is just one reason everyone plays along with the Team this and team that. The books are much more than Edward and Bella..they're books not 2 bella/edward trading cards.

People who dislike him on a personal level really have problems, I'm afraid O_o;
Steph wanted readers to understand that his motives in Eclipse were driven only by true love for Bella and the hopes that he could win her heart. How can anyone who has read these books call Jacob a stand-in? It's preposterous. He is a lot of things in these books (friend, protector, hero, instigator, catalyst, etc) and it doesn't matter that he and Bella aren't meant to be---his love for her was sincere and it is because of him that Bella's still alive to be with Edward (well, if you call being a vampire alive ^_~).
Edward has never hated Jacob, so I don't see why any readers should. He's a smart, good kid!

they weren't even more than friends in New Moon, they only went further in Eclipse people. New Moon was all about Jacob being a shoulder to cry on for Bella to get over Edward but she couldn't and she USED him to hear Edward, she only wanted Jacob around because he helped her feel reckless and that led up to her hearing Edward. New Moon is Romeo and Juliet for Edward and Bella, Jacob was just the friend who slighty lifted up her hopes. New Moon wasn't about Bella getting over Edward and finding a new mythical creature to hang out with and be with... because she never did get over Edward, the whole story is practically Edward/Bella even though they aren't in each other's presence, he was always on her mind and she used Jacob. She was trying throughout New Moon not to send him missed signals but Jacob is just obnoxious and falls for anything.
Good Lord. It's almost a waste of time to type this.. some people just don't get it. ::sigh::
BTW, that shows true love when you put your own personal feelings aside for the other person's best interest. Edward thought he was protecting her. Jacob didn't care how dangerous he was. He could explode easily and like kill her. We all remember Emily yes?
My point wasn't that she was in love with Jacob in New Moon.. you were saying she strictly used him. Yes, I would agree at first she did but she obviously came to care about him if she was upset about him being hurt (and everything else I referenced), so it became MORE than just "using" him.
As far as the last paragraph.. both of them put her in danger plain and simple. Edward with trying to stay away and being unsuccessful.. and struggling not to kill her. Jacob by becoming a werewolf and being rather volatile. I would very much disagree that Jacob "didn't care".. he was more reckless, yes, but it was obvious how much he contained anger so as not to hurt her.
Please hear me out, because I am not really on either team. In fact I guess you could say I'm on both teams because I think they are both good for Bella in different ways. I do, however, have lots of proof straight from the horse's mouth that you are very wrong in assuming there is no Jacob/Bella love in New Moon.
Stephenie Meyer encourages readers to read New Moon twice, to see what they might have missed in Jacob and Bella's relationship--and to see WHY and WHEN exactly Bella's feeling evolve. Stephenie herself said Bella fell in love with Jacob in New Moon, during the ONLY period in her life that she could ever fall in love with anyone else WHILE still in love with Edward. Jacob was her sun in her darkest hour. Would she have ever gotten so close to Jacob if Edward never left her side? Of course not. But Edward DID leave and Jacob was there to save her in more ways than one. By the time Edward returned the damage was done. It works the other way as well, though. If there was never an Edward then Jacob would be her soulmate because it was SO easy for her to be in Jacob's company... even in Twilight she mentions this. Falling in love with Jake would have been effortless in any other circumstance. But in this life there is an Edward... in this life they are meant to be.
Stephenie also says there are different ways to fall in love. Bella had only fallen in love once before--with Edward, and that romance was the dramatic, whisk-her-off-her-feet type of falling in love. The way she fell in love with Jacob was very different...much more subtle... more normal, sane, and healthy. So just because Bella may not have willingly recognized her feelings as such until Eclipse doesn't detract from the truth of when those feelings first formed.
Jacob's goal was to save her life--to show her she has options. He has a right to try to win her heart away from Edward since he is fighting for her life and her humanity... and because she DOES love him, too. Many Team Edward people don't understand this, they don't think Jacob is fighting fair. But he is. Jacob fell in love with Bella when he had every right to do so. We can't expect this love to disappear the minute Edward shows back up. He's going to fight for the love he earned, he's going to fight for Bella's life. That's why he freaks out at their wedding, that's why he hates the fetus, that's why he hates Edward for putting Bella in danger. It doesn't really matter if you like Jacob or not... he's not obnoxious. His primary concern and love for Bella is every bit as sincere as Edward's love for her ever was. If you were in Jacob's shoes you would be singing a very different tune.
Let me also add the first time I read New Moon I could SEE that she was obviously falling in love with Jacob (in spite of herself!!) but she was confused because two forces were working there... a part of her would always love Edward and mourn for him, and another part of her wanted to be happy with Jacob and be a whole person again.
"Be happy" Edward's voice said. This is the turning point.
She stiffens when she hears this because her hallucinations were, until this point, warning her... yelling at her... trying to turn her away from reckless stupidity. But not now. Now she is being encouraged to let her heart be open, to move on with her life. Edward's voice was never Edward at all... her heart belonged to Edward and so of course when her heart spoke to her it was in his voice. Although her heart was still in love with her "fickle Romeo"... little by little her heart wants to heal... it wants to be shared with Jacob. SHE *SAYS* THIS!!
I'm not saying Edward isn't her soulmate. But love is a complicated thing and it's not a matter of who she was meant for... it's a matter of falling in love with two different boys in two different ways at two different times but committing to the one (and the lifestyle) she truly wanted. This is something Stephenie says on her website, even. In the end, true love is not about a lack of options.
but it sucks the movie is going to be like 1 hour of Failcob :(
Team Edward 4 Life.
1) Jacob wasn't needed for Bella to do dangerous things--i.e. cliff dive or wander off into the woods & stumble into Laurent--she may have needed him for the bikes, but beyond that, why stay?
2) Fact check; Edward's FAILURES led to Bella having an emotional breakdown! Had Jacob not been there she would've died via Laurent, Victoria, cliff diving, etc. Then, your precious Edward would've killed himself because of his FAILURE (& millions of emo tweens would slit their wrists because of it lol?). Do not bring this "Failcob" bs, unless you plan on including "Failward" in the equation. They both are subject to their failures as well as their accomplishments & all things considering, every character in the Saga is pertinent to the story. W/out Jacob, there wouldn't be a Bella after NM. The End! Just like w/out Bella & Edward, there wouldn't be a Nessie, etc.
4) Lastly in regard to that weak "that shows true love..." statement lol; let's recall how Jacob sacrificed for Bella. Nursing her back to emotional health regardless of what his own emotional well being would suffer (yes, he knew & did it willingly, he even said so). Between NM & BD, there were plenty of examples, especially once Edward returned. I seem to recall a few moments when Edward himself, turned to Jacob in regard to Bella. Did Jacob refuse him despite hating him? No. He risked suffering the loss of his entire pack/family to protect Bella--knowing how much he didn't want her to have that child (because it was killing her), how much he didn't want her to die, how much he didn't want her subjected to the vamps & their thirst--he did it all anyway. Yeah, suffering for the sake of the one you love, indeed. Not bad for a 16 year old compared to someone that's lived 100+ years & didn't even know his true love well enough to -anticipate- how she would break when he left. Or even think to clean up his "mess" (Victoria/Laurent).
Being a Twilight fan isn't about warring "Teams". Its about loving the story & respecting it. This includes the characters & the events, even the ones you dislike, because it all combines to make possible the story you love.
1. Bella wouldn't have cliff dived AT ALL if Jacob wouldn't have been there. She only knew about it because of Jacob.

4. What ever happened to 3 by the way? Anyway, Jacob only did those things because he wanted Bella. But was Jacob kind AT ALL to Edward? Nope, Edward was trying to be nice and mature but there Jacob goes with his "bloodsuckers" and "leeches" comments. He always thought Edward was out to get him and he was waiting to KILL HIM remember? He was never mature and always wanted to kill the Cullens. He was just pining for Bella the whole time.
Seriously, the thing I couldn't stand about him is when he was rude to the Cullens. Calling them all those names and then complaining about the smell. Yes Rosalie did that to, but really not as much. Oh and you say how we shouldn't have teams... and yet you seem to. I don't get it, you really seem like you hate Edward to me.
Bella may not have "cliff dived" specifically, but considering her state of mind, do you really think she would've just sat at home & done nothing to put herself in harms way? Cliff diving is just another example of this & a convenient one for SM since Jacob could be there to diffuse the situation.
I don't hate Edward, never did--I was Team Edward until Eclipse, then I went Switzerland, & finally settled as being a member of the Pack later, but I don't hate any of the characters (if I did it would probably be Bella hah!). I actually rather like that SM wrote some flaws into Edward. He seems much more "human" to me as a result.
In New Moon Edward drove me just as crazy as Jacob, w/his attitude. I don't see either he, nor Jacob as acting mature (lets recall that Jacob was 16, he's not supposed to be mature, but thats beyond the point); they discriminated against each other unjustly (which was obnoxious considering that they were similar in quite a few ways, even in their differences). But Edward acted out of jealousy as well & certainly wasn't exempt from having an attitude in regard to Jacob. I was reading & getting so annoyed w/them because I knew that if they'd look past the 'wolf/vamp equation, they'd get along very well! Frustrating! Edward complained about Jacob's smell as well & even Bella was irritated over both of their attitudes. My point is, neither of them acted rationally because of their mutual love for Bella. Neither of them did less than the other in demonstrating that, they just did so in different ways...It's actually a very even playing field but it drives me nuts that people often point the finger at one w/out seeing what the other did as well.
Almost seems like some "want" to be haters, when there's no reason to--they both love her & they were both being jerks cause they were jealous guys--period. Sadly, thats when the Team mentality comes into play & automatically makes (some) people irrational, when both sides are at fault since they're responsible for how they acted as well as how they appeared to the other.
I don't think there should be no Teams, never said that. I dislike that the Teams get so damned crazy all the time! You even hear about fans heckling the actors because they're on the opposing Team. Its absurd, especially when you consider that both sides combine to form one Team more or less, in the end. But I'm also not 13 so I'll probably never understand that...
Book Jake just bugged me when he wouldn't leave Bella alone in Eclipse but I hope I like Movie Jake more. I'm so tired of hating Jacob, I actually kind of liked him in Breaking Dawn. Just hated him in Eclipse for pushing himself on Bella. I appreciated him in New Moon to help Bella out. I REALLY LOVE Seth a lot. He's a werewolf and yet he can be like best friends with Edward.
It bugged me when Jacob and Edward couldn't just chill together. I totally agree that they could have been friends!! Seth and Edward were!!! They weren't THAT different, their personalities could totally be cool together. Stupid prejudice, I swear. That what I didn't like about the wolf pack, they though all vampires were the same! I hated Sam way more then Jacob a lot of the time.
Jacob was just a little to immature for me, he's 16, not 10. I swear he was going to start yelling about cooties or something. See!? Here I go again! But I think if Edward acted to old it would be weird. The whole thing is that he doesn't act like he is, he acts like a very mature 20 year old (actually 17, but still).
Uh- no- "dog" & "mongrel" aren't the nicest things to say either - & I said it before & I'll say it again- the characters help the development of the other characters; Dr Cullen wasn't badly thought of by Jacob, after a while, as he got to interact with him more than the others.
He was taught vampires were the enemy- it was a fundamental of his people's history & it was always with him- but he did the unthinkable, in walking away from them (& Seth did, too [& became a friend to the Cullens])- so the whole 'always wanted to kill the Cullens' is innaccurate.
He also showed a lot of maturity through the series- there were moments where they were both juvenile- Jacob & Edward's ages didn't have anything to do with it- there were times when they both stuffed up- & Bella, too.
And as for Rosalie not complaining as much- how many chapters did you skip?
1. He interrupted Edward's and Bella's love thing. Later I found out they was a stupid thought. Jacob had every right to at least try to date Bella. Edward dumped her (for good reasons) and she was hurt. Jacob helped her out of hard times.
2. Jacob seemed like a jerk. Later I found out that was normal 16 year old behavior. He wants something and he's going to work as hard as he can to get. I understand boys a little more, and I now find nothing wrong with Jacob tiring to get Bella.
3. He was a werewolf. lol, I don't know why I thought werewolfs were just disgusting. Now look back on it, and werewolf are just as cool as vampires. :)
4. He pushed himself on Bella, forcing to kiss her. I still hate him for that. But I think I can blame it on Bella more than Jacob. If she just made it clearer that she was Edward's girl and there was no way she would leave Edward for him, he wouldn't think she would like.
5. He called Edward a vampire slur. By that I mean "bloodsucker" 'leech" "parasite", and all that good stuff. I LOVE vampires, so calling them that really pisses me off. I am a little protective of Edward for some unknown reason. I think it's because I understand him, and I "feel" him a lot. It's like I know how he feels when he's sad. I cried in New Moon and Braking Dawn. He was so sad in both of them, I thinks that's way I cried. lol awww :)
6. I was jealous. I wanted Edward to have as much buffness as Jacob. . . . . . . I learned to get over it. lol
7. Edward is the better choice . . . . . no ifs ands or buts about it. They fit together a lot better than she and Jacob would . . . .
Those were the reasons I hated jacob. Note: I love him now. He's awesome! lol. GO JACOB lol :)

And I also don’t like Edward towering over Jake. I know Taylor’s not that tall, but hello? Welcome to the 21st century, there are ways to fix that. That’s not how it’s supposed to be.
I like that they gave the poster the warm werewolf color theme, in contrast to the cool Twilight posters. Still, Edward’s wearing his usual cool colored grey shirt.
I love the look on Jacob’s face, it represents his mood about the whole Cullen-business and his bitterness after the transformation quite well, although his haircut and entire attitude kind of gives away the second part of New Moon. They also made his skin darker, although Taylor already is quite tanned, but this is even better. And I like that Kristen’s the only one looking into the camera, at least one thing hinting this might be about her and not about Edward.
They look absolutely stunning, I love how Bella looks way more mature with her straight hair and the shorter haircut. Kristen’s beautiful.
All in all the poster’s quite cool, not only because it feels like forever that I’ve been waiting for it. It’s so good to see Jacob there, although I hope to see some posters with a bit MORE of him
But I agree: this could easily be a poster for Eclipse, I don’t think New Moon’s so much about a love triangle, considering the fact that Bella, who would be the link between Edward and Jacob, should be AWARE of her love for Jake, which she isn’t (consciously), so it’s more about a broken heart and friendship. But I knew ever since that E!online special they would make it look like a love-triangle-story, I guess that sells better.
Rob can be the focal point of posters during Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, and even though he's in the movie a lot more than he is in the book- his presence is supposed to be missed by the audience... until the end.
I really, really like Rob and I even like Edward, there's nothing wrong with either of them, but this is a complete misinterpretation of the book. Mhhh, but I still hope for other poster with different arrangements, this will hardly be it.
Seeing this whole Rob-mayhem, I kind of lose faith in New Moon turning out the way I imagined it, but I guess hope dies last.
I don't want to lose all faith in the movie after this poster, because I've seen Chris Weitz's "The Golden Compass", and I've read that book- and he didn't change too much from the book- which offers some relief.
I'm not losing all my faith, but it's quite obvious that some things are being changed for sure... apart from that everything looks fantastic so far, I think changing the director was a very wise move as well, he seems to know what he's doing. And of course the bigger budget won't hurt either:), plus the CGI for the wolves and the new cast in general... I loved every decision they made, apart from this whole Edward-issue... just can't wait to see the result;P
Don't get me wrong it's beautiful in it's own way it just doesnt tell the right story for me...I would have expected something more dramatic...like Bella's limp body and Jacob holding her and Edward faded in the background...or something like that.
I think it's a really cool poster, but not very suitable for New Moon.... It's too love triangle centred, and that doesn't really happen until Eclipse.... Great with the whole Edward/Jacob face-off thing though, but even though Kristen/Bella has got the perfectly blank expression we'd expect from Zombie-Bella, why is she clinging onto Jacob instead of reaching out for Edward?
I get that Bella clings to Jacob in the book, but her desire for Edward kinda over-rules that in the book in a way - I mean, she takes Edward back straight away and is kinda like "Byeee Jacob", and just ditches him....
Ah well, I read into things too much.

Jake a la natural is good without any artificial enhancements other than his own natural enhancements. Although I didn't even second guess it when I read it, but too tall could look a bit awkward, it's something else when you actually see it visually.
But to tell you the truth, that's a non issue that I won't even question or even think about at all the moment Jacob appears on that screen and lights it up with that smile of his.

In the Twilight posters- they were done in a way that I looked at it and knew Edward was a vamp- non human. I guess this just makes the Edward I had envisioned (and seen in Twilight) boring and plain. Like he's just a guy. Edward is never just a guy, nor should he look that way.
Jacob's facial expression? Perfect! total 'werewolf/stay away from Bella' look.
I'll say it again with Bella- she looks too pretty.
I also think Bella is too pretty, and I'm not sure how they can make her look like a beautiful Vamp in BD if she looks so good now. Another thing I loved about Twilight- they really down played Bella so that she is easier to relate to, and so that they can really make your gorgeous when she becomes a vamp.
In response to pale_cold1 about what I mean by Edward looking 'too human'- I agree that the lipstick thing was weird, and I have heard what Rob had to say about his make-up in the commentary- but all the vamps should at least be noticeably pale. Here, he's so golden and 'alive looking'.
...now i LOVE Catherine H. and support her vision of Twilight and don't want to get into that whole war here, but seriously, there was some problems with the makeup...and i guess i am just impressed with this look for Edward.
oh, and the chest hair? for goodness sake, my 17 yr old is a hairy dude now too. that's what happens ya know. i don't see the problem with a 17 yr old Edward having a little hair on his chest when he was turned into a vampire almost 90 yrs ago....i mean he's forever frozen as he was (the book says that all the time).

Kristen looks more like Kristen and not like Bella, she looks way too perfect, to arrogant and confident. I miss her being insecure, vulnerable, broken. She looks more like I imagined her in Breaking Dawn.
And I would have put Bella between Jake and Edward, not behind Jake. OK, Jake wants to protect her but I don't want it fits this way because what Edward does is also meant to protect Bella.

No, I'm not that kinda person, who goes grazy about everything that relates to Twilight saga. It's just that I reealllly like this poster a lot!
In the Twilight saga, I think that New Moon is the best so far (haven't read the 4th because it doesn't exist in Finnish, yet). In the 2nd book I just completely fell in "love" with Jacob, and I think that Bella and Jacob would've made a great couple. So this poster, where Bella is hanging on Jacobs arm, it's just.. treat for the eyes! Also the colors and poses are really great on this one. But something that bothers me, is Bellas face.. she always looks so natural in Twilight, so it's a bit odd to see that much makeup on her face. So that's why I would've rate this 4,5/5, but since there's no such option, I decided to gave 5/5.

Jacob was a distraction and someone that helped her heal, but Edward was there always in her waking moments and dreams. I think the poster signifies Jacob trying to keep her from what he thinks will hurt her. She is forever looking for him, hopeing to see him one way or the other. Edward looks agonized, wanting to protect her but knowing he can't live without her.

I kinda have to say that I've seen better fanmade posters. This isn't bad, its just not living up to my expectations. Edward looks like he's in an awkward position, Jake's facial expression is odd and Bella looks too porceline. Anyone else see that?

how can people not love it...do you not see the symbolization of the story?
edward leaving edward behind, (note that shes behind him) yet his face still shows anger and/or jealousy. bella looking ahead, in his direction yet still connected with jacob, in a way she cant let him go. (note shes touching him, yet looking in edwards direction as if she cant let either go) and jacob between the two. protecting her from edward, keeping her safe; staying between the two for bellas sake, to make sure shes always happy. i mean its PERFECT.
the only thing id like to see in the 2nd poster (movies usually have 2) is the wolf pack & volturi/cullens behind them...kinda shadow-ish i guess. to kinda symbolize the diffrence between the two..and the controversy she faces in the story. but other than that i think this poster is AMAZING. =D
but beside that i like your other opinions :)

I think Edward looks taller because he is in the front. Anyway, Taylor is not 7 ft so he's not going to be as tall as Jacob in the book. They did make Bella shorter than she actually is in comparison to Taylor. Also, Bella looks different as in the Twilight posters, like she's not as innocent...
The poster does show the struggle witin the triangle; Bella's lean toward Edward, Jake's protection of Bella. and most importantly Edward's quiet restrain/resentment of Jake.
The tension shows in the hands or both rivals. But, why is Bella looking at us? Shouldn't she be looking more toward Edward, it seems she is ignoring both Edward and Jake, and looking for something else.
For one thing, Jacob's eyes look REALLY weird. That's the first thing that jumped out at me. Bella has lost that wide-eyed innocent, awkward look. Her expression doesn't reflect a fraction of the unbearable heartbreak as described in the book. They just have her looking kind of "sultry". However, Edward looks totally hot.
Wow, I hope this isn't a reflection of how the movie is going to turn out. Yikes!
Anyway, just my opinion.

EH, I think it's OKAY, it's not all that great, it looks kind of fan-made sort of. :( But it is awesome still, I just think Twilight's poster was the best. But obviously it's not fan-made because, well, Rob's hair and style of clothes is sort of the same as twilight and that looks like Twilight Kristen lol. But it is cool.

If new comers take in the subtle hints of it, that Nomenstars so amazinqly pointed out, they would be able to tell thats theres qonna some kind of conflict between Edward and Jacob but they wouldn't know exactly whats qoinq on[which is probably the point of this poster]. The more personal posters will probably show more of Bellas Devastation =)

The biggest problem here (the reason I don't love the idea) is that its kinda weird to have the three of them in the same poster, maybe she should have been all alone and sad, with jacob behind her and edward's blury silhouette in the background or something like it.

Not really an helpful answer but all in all I understand the vampires are stronger than the werewolves and would win a fight in a face-to-face fight. But personal issues and emotions (like anger, jealousy, protectiveness) could lean the balance one way or the other.
Robward is looking so freakin' sexy.
Overall, I was disappointed. I was expecting something more dramatic and.. heartbreaking.. I guess
not that it's bad I guess. A bit boring that's all, at least Robert and Taylor actually look hot in the posters for once...

IMHO I think the poster has been well done - you can read so much into it and have your own opinion of what's going on (if you read all the comments above) so I say kudos to the graphics team. The stances of the characters - the comments about the weird arm positions... to me it looks like Edward and Jacob have a lil arm shoving thing going on. It's so hard to portray the essence of a whole movie/novel into one picture without giving too much or not enough... I say great!!! :)

Jake doesn't come between them like the poster makes out....he isn't quite the third wheel until Eclipse. In New Moon he's trying to help Bella move on and also the revelation of the wolves. I am being completely impartial here and do not have my Jacob hat on but agree with some of the other posts that Jacob shouldn't be so hidden because New Moon is about bringing him out as a main character that is pivotal to the rest of the saga. Yes the story is Bella and Edward but there would be no love triangle without Jacob.
I would have pushed Edward to the back...with Bella at the front...just my opinion so don't come and beat up on me!

Any way, its an improvement on the early Twilight posters, and the charcters all look gorgeous -
I love the way Bella is peering round , looking for Edward but not quite seeing him, theres enough Jacob to keep the wolf girls happy and Edward is ...well Edward - what more needs to be said.
All in all Summit, a good effort but must try harder.
I think they should have shown more of him as Edward isn't really in NM....I know he isn't just passing thought in NM but still...I would have thought Bella would have been at the front with Edward at the back...NM is all about Bella coping without him...and obviously Jacob being introduced as a main character.
Oh and is it me or day Jacob look years beyond his age....he look all grown up like a MAN!!

edwards pose is very good. He stands his back to Bella but turns his head to her. He cant totally abandon her. His hand- you might interpret it like he wants to cratch Jacobs eyes out but it might be alsow like his hand is aching to touch Bella,that he want to be her protector. But he cant, he said that it would be like he never existed. Edward is pure struggle on this poster.
And jacob,well Jacob he seems like vampire killer-Bella protector all in one. He concentrates more on Edward,when Edward looks at Bella. Jacob is more animalistic, follows his primal senses.
Also, 'new moon' means theres no moon, theres no light...hence its Bella's darkest time... yet theres like a crescent moon in the background... its annoying lol...
Ok, that being said. I AM very happy we have an official poster- and of course we are all going to nit-pick since we are die hard fans- it just wasn't what I expected..

Yeah , we love the "friend" but he is mostly a bandaid.
Once she had Edward there was no one else for her, only someone to make her feel better until Edward came back.
This poster conveys it well.
But what bugs me the most, is that I think Taylor looks even older than Robert.. o_o
I still think an image of a wolf is needed...after all, New Moon is all about hot sexy werewolves...LOL...
And it does make me think of New Moon because Jacob isn't really in Bella's way in Eclipse, he would let her go if thats what she wanted.

It's great,there's so much emotion in it. I think it captures the moment when Jake finds out he's a werewolf and Edward is really a vampire.He's disgusted with Edward (in his opinion a filthy bloodsucker) and can't understand that even though Bella knew it from the beginning and he left here hurting her she still wants only Edward. Edward is angry and suffering,he can't put up with himself without Bella and he's looking back (metaphorically) in her direction,still restraining himself from going back.
But after all , I'm pleased with this ! I hope the upcoming ones will be better and show more of the characters personalities.
On one hand I am just so excited that they have finally released SOMETHING for the movie.
One the other, I'm not that impressed by it. Some of the fan-made posters look better and capture the book/movie better. People who haven't read the book aren't really going to understand it, but those of us who have will.
IMO I like that Edward is in the front. He has such a huge presence in the book regardless of the fact that he's not around. His stance is ready for action, but depressed at the same time.
Jacob being in the middle bothered me at first, but after really looking at it you notice that you can't really see much of him. He's in the middle of things, but not in Bella's heart. His protective stance between Bella and Edward represents a lot of things including the "love triangle" and Edward being a natural enemy.
Bella holding on to Jake says that she depends on him and needs him, but her looking away from him means that it's not in a romantic kind of way as she still loves Edward. It's almost as she's looking for Edward, but can't quite see him.
Just my opinion!

Overall I like it. The sepia/brown tones and the forest are a nice setting. Edward looks irritated at jacob which is appropriate. They captured the essence of jacob here very well- angry with his back turned to edward. I love the fact that edward is in the front this time!!!
Bella looks blank as usual :lol I think kristen is beautiful and I am a huge fan, but her expression as bella is always so stoic.

I don't know if the theme is exactly the right one... it's a little confusing I think. If I'd never seen Twilight, I would assume that Edward is the one on the outside and Jacob is the person she's crazy in love with. But, being that as it may, it still makes me have questions about the film, so I guess the poster did it's job.

the idea that someone was paid to do this kinda retouching scares me a little and also makes me insanely jealous because it doesnt look particularly well done. But as for how a poster makes me feel about the upcoming movie, well it works and works effectively.
But can we talk about the spray-tan effect on poor Tyler? ...Why does his face look white and his arm look like the circulations been cut off? (and cut off by what? kris' delicate little hand which is so light it doesnt leave indents or shadows?) i mean, rob's supposed to look dead-ish with the whole vampire-shindig so i overlook the fact that his face and his arms are quite clearly lit by the same light source and at yet manage to be horribly different colors.

The expression of Jacob is fantastic, so protective. He should comes to the fore and Edward sholud takes a backseat. Bella,hmm.a bit more emotions?. I love all the books, the movie and all the stuff, the actors are gorgeous. But a few chances of the poster would better go with the story of new moon.
Bella thinks so much about Edward, but Jake is her tower of strength. He,and his story are the major parts.Edward resembles a marginal figure rather than a protagonist,in the part new movie, that´s my opinion.

Listen, there are SO many different ways you could interpret this poster. Sure, it looks like it could be an Eclipse poster, I totally agree with you on that. But it fits New Moon JUST as well! Everyone is dissecting this thing when in all reality it's just a poster and you people are putting way more thought into it and totally overanalyzing it. Just appreciate it and if you don't like it, there's nothing you can do about it. Go make your own to how YOU want it to be. But really guys, don't be so nit-picky. You sound so whiny and it's so freaking annoying.
I am a HUGE Twilight Saga fan, of both the books and the movie. I respect each thing and am just happy they are even MAKING a movie for New Moon and making posters. We can't expect them to be perfect people, because we all envision the story differently in our heads. ACCEPT IT AND MOVE ON!!!!!!

I love this poster
i think it represents the book perfectly.
it is leaning a little towards eclipse, but i love it.
i think that jacob's hand could be in a fist, because he is ready for a fight, but more likely that he is trying not to turn wolfy. because he does that alot in new moon and also there is no REAL rivalry between Jacob and Edward at this point.

i think it does slightly lean over to Eclipse, because there is no REAL Bella/Edward/Jacob love triangle in New Moon, but i love it.
Kristen Stewart looks gorgeous (as always), Edward/Robert Pattinson looks fantastically hot and brooding, and Jacob... he's just hot. I like the positions of them, and agree with the Bella "reaching to Edward" thing.
I think that Jacob could have his fist clenched ready for a fight, but more likely has it clenched because he is trying not to turn into a wolf. He does that alot in New Moon. Also, there is no real fight in New Moon. Apart from him and Paul. But that's besides the point. Personally, I think he is trying not to be wolfy.

Edward take to much place in the poster and I don't understand the reaction of Jacob, neither Bella. It could fit more for Eclipse, but, well, not even. This poster is not telling anything about the story, no motorcycles, no Volturi, no cliff, no wolves. We already know those 3 people are gonna be in the movie, could we have more?
Looking at the poster, I get the feeling someone's laughing at us. I mean, most of the artists here could have done that with photoshop in 10 minutes.

i am a really really big fan of the movie and books i have done read all the books and part of the new book and they are all amazing and you guys did such a good job with the movie i loved it. Oh and Robert please please i am begging you please do all the movies please i heard you were thinking about not doing them but i am begging you i mean just think about your friends just think about all of us we love you so please please finish the movies you are so good of an acter you are the only person who can play that part without us being disappionted if you dont do the rest of the movies and all of you did an amazing job and if any of you quite i will be so so sad but really really good job though.

Sorry, but Edward doesn't propose in New Moon but (spoiler) he will in the last half of Eclipse and they get married in Breaking Dawn, in the beginning... Then in Breaking Dawn after they get married THEY go to ISLE ESME and of course... Bella gets pregnant

Its Like Bella is Trying to Get past Jacob, but he wont let her, hes protecting her,
Edward is walking away, but looking back at bella, as he doesnt really want to leave her, but he has too, Jacob is also looking at edward with anger in his expression, he hates him for what he has done to bella!
Bella has her hand on jacob's arm trying to reasure him that she is okay, but he knows deep don that shes not.
And i love that the background of the poster is the forest, as this is a setting for lots of the story..
Also the glimmer of light coming in the right corner.. this is a symbol for what happens in Italy..

What I really love is that it's totally open to interpretation, just like the books. Again, IMO, what makes a book, movie, TV show, song...whatever, great is when each time you come back to it, you find something new. As I was reading the earlier posts, I found myself saying "I can see that" after almost every one!

sorry its so long, i have a lot to say but i hope you take time to read it, as i took the time to write it :D
looking at edward it seems as though he doesnt want to leave, he looks soooooo hurt!!! you can see his longing for her by the fact that he is looking at her. his stance shows him walking away. i can kinda imagine if this was a scene that he would be walking away looking over his shoulder to her. Its almost as if he doesnt even see jacob in this pic like bella is all he sees and wants which i think is exactly how is character is in the book... no one or nothing else matters but her. Looking at Bella, yes shes touching jacob or holding on to him but in the book that was how they were, they would hold hands, and just like in the book bella doesnt look completely comfortable with it otherwise she would be gripping his arm not resting her hand on it. The fact that she is looking away from him shows that she is not longing for him but longing for someone else. which i think is perfect for there relationship. during the book she constantly speaks of having feelings for jacob but not 'those' types of feelings. she even speaks about how it feels like a betrayal. thats clear in her face... she looks lost, confused and hurt. As for jacob. He is clearly pushing in between bella and edward. Not only does he try to fill in edwards place in this book with her, but this is the start of the love triangle between them. for all of those who have read eclipse you know that jacob is constantly putting himself in the way of bella and edward and towards the end of it bella says that she does love him but she loves edward more, that if she hadnt of lost edward that she wasnt sure if she would have picked jacob over edward. I know that particular part isnt needed for this poster but i think that its a good representation of what to come in the saga. Another thing to look at is jacobs hands they are clenched in fists which shows hes ready for a fight which could be looked upon as ready for a fight with edward for bellas heart or for the fight between vamp and wolf. also look at his face, the fact that jacob wont turn his back to edward without looking at him shows the distrust between them like he thinks edward would attack him when his back is turned. i think that is also good representation for the way the wolves think about the vamps. jacob definately takes up the protective role in new moon and although edward isnt meaning to put bella in harms way he does because its the only way to keep him with her ( bella doing stupid things to see and hear him) which is why i think they made it look like jacob is protecting bella from edward.
the thing i love about this poster is the fact that you could continue to find something new in it all the time, if you really wanted to look deeply into it you could say that, as the book is written from bellas pov, then the poster is also created that way. edward being at the front shows that he is the most important thing to her in the world which she proves when she risks her life to save his, that jacob is also important to her but not as much as edward which is why she chose to leave him behind in order to help edward and finally that she is at the very back because her character is described as very selfless and that she considers other people and their happiness more important than her own.
you could even look at the clothing they are wearing in the poster. Bella and Jacob are both wearing brown, which automatically joins them, almost to show they are on the same wave length as one another... and then edward is in black, to show that hes seperate to them... the odd one out. you could also say that brown is a warm colour, and therefore could be used to show that they are living/hot blooded where as black is cold colour as if to show edward is dead and cold.... the clothing picks at the differences between the characters especially between edward and jacob and shows that even though jacob isnt human he still fits better with bella than edward does... it could even represent past and present...

1)Why is Edward/ Rob in it? the whole book is about how he isn't there. That's what bugs me about magazines and crap about this too; the other day in the book store they had a magazine with 7 posters in it. 6 of Rob, 1 of Kristen. In the books there's only, what? A couple chapters with Edward actually present in the scene?
2) Only showing half of Taylor's face?! WHAT!? Plus Jacob goes most of the book shirtless, so isn't it contradictory to his character to not be?
3) I know Taylor isn't actually taller than Rob, but he's supposed to be big. So why not position him to look taller than Rob because of his characters description? Twihards like me probably will notice that like I did.
4) The order should be reversed! Instead of Edward/ Rob in front and Bella/ Kristen in back, with Jacob/ Taylor in the middle, Rob should be in back, considering he really isn't in the book much. Kristen should be in front of Taylor with Taylor facing away from Rob again.
5) Sure, people who haven't read New Moon 27 times may not care, but I've read it probably more than that, and Edward even being in the poster, not to mention he's in the FRONT, doesn't make sense to me. I'm an all out Jacob/ Taylor fan, from buying the Jacob Twilight posters to Taylor Lautner bio books, so I guess I'm a little biased. Plus Rob in vampire makeup kinda freaks me out.
NM is about Jacob and bella and how she was fight the darkest and how jacob black is her sun.
She will alway love him no matter what, but her love is more for ED and thats ok but u need to understand that JB is a important part to sage, SM and, to the reader because if he was not in the books it would have been a really boring story!!!!
