Being a fan of both King and Meyer's novels, I think that although Meyer has done very well, however, she will never have the creativity, nor the variety, that King publishes. He is a literature genius, and she writes about vampires that sparkle. If you compare King's novel 'Salem's Lot with Twilight, you can tell that King captures what we think vampires should be and turns it into a work that is all his own. She makes vampires sound like baseball loving imbeciles. Although Meyer created a good story, her writing will never compare to King.

I agree with SK. I realize that I'm a bit biased because I'm a fan of his, but oh well. There are so many girls in my homeroom class (I'm in grade six.) that love the Twilight Saga. Granted, some of these girls have also read and liked Mr. King's books as well. After hearing how good the Twilight Saga was, I checked the first book out from my public library. Since both my peers and teachers alike loved it so much, I thought it must have been pretty spectacular. I was completely wrong. First off, Edward is downright creepy, and in my opinion, his behavior makes him very unattractive. Second, Bella, the supposedly strong heroine, couldn't have been more whiny, obnoxious, immature, dependent on others, and just Mary Sue-esque all around. Then, there was the plot itself. Anne Rice, whose books I love, said something questioning why vampires would attend high school, when they could do so many other things. I think she's right. If you could live forever and do all these fun, amazing things, then why in the world would you go back to school when you've already graduated? Don't get me wrong, I love school, but if I had already finished my education and already knew what they were teaching us, I wouldn't go back, simply because it would be a waste of time. Also, as some other people have pointed out, there are boys who are genuinely nice to Bella and manage to show her that they like her without breaking in to her house to watch her sleep, and yet she just walks all over them. This brings me to my next point. How is somebody breaking into your home and gawking at you while you are trying to sleep romantic? I'm only twelve, but if I was old enough to date, and somebody did that to me, I'd get a restraining order against them, or at least call the police and report the incident. Sorry for my incredibly long rant, you guys, but this just makes me mad. Stephen King has the right to say what he would like to say, as does everyone. Censoring people's opinions just because they contradict yours in in no way acceptable. It's cruel, and frankly, when I think of people getting death threats because they don't agree with something, I think of Nazi Germany.

It's funny, I heard many comments from young teenagers trying to stand out with dirty language to show that they heart their "Twilight", Sure I read the books, but seriously, these are teens and even tweens talking, and last time I checked Stephen King's books are adult books, so of course half of these overly, obsessed wannabes would not get the true literature in Stephen King's horror novels. One comment literally made me laugh aloud, from a commenter called "twilightlovee" and I quote, "If Stephanie Meyer is such a terrible writer than why has she sold so many copies of her books and why have they been turned into movies only to make millions and millions of dollars? Yeah I thought so," I have an answer to that long, grammar error question. Particularly Girl Teens,( the obsessed wannabes I mentioned earlier ), would buy these books either A: They Simply picked up this book because of the romance, B: They bought it to look "Cool", C: They really wanted to involve themselves in the "Twilight World" and become an obsessive wannabe, or D: Like me, they bought the books to BURN IT :) So many Teens chose A,B,and C and of course there are many teens on this planet, I mean just because it sells, does NOT MEAN that it is good. Obviously Catherine Hardwicke made the movie (being smart) like most Americans do, TO GET MONEY! Some Americans know the way to get the big bucks off of some silly teen romance novels. He is absolutely right. I mean atleast JK has variety! She writes about love, drama, mystery, adventure ect. And does and excellent job at it too, HP was planned and thought about and is frankly A M A Z I N G.
Meyer however writes as if she is basing it on some vivid dream she had and is making up the whole plot as she goes. Oh wait. Thats EXACTLY what she does. Isnt it?

You will die. I will track you down and KILL you. Stephen King is the absolute KING of all literature, whilst Stephanie Meyer writes pornos that unsuspecting teenagers read--and continue to read.

Stephen King is completely correct in what he says about Meyer. Stephen King couldn't be selfish since he is still making best-seller books, and has much more success than Meyer or anyone else. Sure, the HP craze has died down, but Rowling is definitely better.
P.S. Please consult grade school, I don't believe they've teached you proper grammar. Don't insult Stephen King. He has fans, too.

Yeah, I agree, Stephanie made vampires and werewolves flirts and love crazy. And the book displays typical teen-age idiocy of putting all their worries on their love life rather than focus on their study and do well in life <for bella=""> and yeah she did slaughtered the demonic reputation of the vampires. Whats the moral of the story again? I couldn't find any other than "we need to choose the hotter boyfriend".

I also read a comment that says King couldn't write because his books are too detailed. I couldn't see whats wrong with being detailed. King's books are too detailed that they are able to penetrate and fill you imagination and will leave you hiding under your blanket at night. Too bad young people would rather have vampires falling in love than being what their true nature is.

Lets have a look at the fundamental differences between Meyer's "Books" and the masterful prose that is the legacy of Stephen King (okay, so I'm a little bias).

Stephen King commonly explores the realm of horror. His ideas are original and his prose is of such quality that he has had over 40, (roughly 10 times the success of Meyer) books in the Bestseller category. Stephen kings books sell straight off the press, Meyer's "EPIC SAGA", similarly to Harry Potter (another poor installment) sat miserably and un-wanted on shelves for several years, similar to the romantic future of it's fans.

Now, pay attention.
Stephen King writes 'LITERARY FICTION'
Meyer and Rowling alike write 'POPULAR FICTION'
Gold star for anyone who can distinguish between the two.

Stephen King is ENTITLED to express his opinion, not only as one of the worlds most esteemed, celebrated, awarded and most read writers, but also in the same way any literary critic (whom commonly are not novelist themselves) can express their views regarding any piece of prose.
To suggest that Stephen Kings opinion is in any way irrelevant or obselete, is like suggesting that it is not in a father's interest to comment on the school grades of his daughter.

I would be shocked and appalled if Meyer had not read at least 1 Stephen King novel in her lifetime. If she hadn't, then I would suggest that she is not fit to be published on the subject of vampires or werewolves alike. Regardless of how mercilessly she has slaughtered their demonic reputation.

All Twilight fans, I hope for your sake, that one day you will read 'A secret history', 'Clockwork Orange,' or maybe Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' one day, and be capable of understanding the error of your ways.
