anothers, IMHO, which are more important are the continuity (story wise) and
the way it was done (real life wise)...
Story wise: Victoria is a main character, whether she's in it a lot or not,
she influences the entire second and third books, you can't just change the
face which has that influence, it's not a soap oprah...
Real life wise: this is typical of movie studios, she is a, from what I've
read a lovely lady who's been "done over" because Ron Howard wants his kid
to get a job...
Why Summit? huh? that's my question...
Acting isn't always great, I think that's a given, but why change the
character for the last installment she's in when her character has the best
bits??
I just think it's disgusting :) Give her back her role... :)

And, I agree with everything in that statement. I think it is sh*tty the way they handled this situation. And I will not be surprised to see a Summit filmed being directed by Ron Howard coming out fairly soon. It is the way Hollywood is, and it sucks. But, what can we do?

She clearly said that if Rachelle left on her own, she'd be sad but happy for her and hopeful for her career. However if Summit forced her out and wanna play the blame game and disparage her character, that's not something any of us can respect, especially since they're already known to be quite shady.

I am a vamp girl through and through buuutt....
TAYLOR IS THE PERFECT EFFING JACOB...actually, he matches EXACTLY how I (and many others) pictured Jake from the book (and yes I read them all before the movie, so seeing him onscreen never tainted my original vision of him)...the way he acts / talks and his mannerisms and stuff are SPOT-ON Jacob...and he has a sunny personality just like Jake...sorry but I definitely had to disagree with you on this.

I am a little annoyed by the fact that they couldn't find a real werewolf to play him though.
I don't have to read mind to know you are okay with Taylor as Jacob, you have already stated that.
But if Taylor is sunny as a person, so what? Robert Pattison (Who I love so don't take this as me hating on him) isn't a gentlemen or even close to how his character is. That doesn't make him a bad Edward though. These are acters, if anything that makes him a better acter.
Taylor is the perfect Jake. Period.

That doesn't mean he's good for Jacob, That just means he's a good person, and he is a good person. What I love about him is that he really good with the fans.
And NONE of the actors are anywhere near 7' as you very well know and, as I'm sure you also know, there are very few actors in Hollywood that even cross 6'5 so it would be really unrealistic to think that they could find a young actor with all the physical specifications Jacob is supposed to have. (especially when none of the other actors are tailor made to their characters either)
I'm just bitter about Jacob, and I know it. When I found out who was playing him forever ago I was bummed. It was like finding out Santa wasn't real :P, but I have to admit, he was better than I anticipated.

This whole scheduling conflict from Summit really bothers me. I am not trying to offend anyone, but KStew and Rob are both filming movies. Are they going to be finished in time for rehearsals?
What about Cam....they filmed around his schedule. Are they telling us they couldn't film around Rachelle's 10 days? Give me a break.

The only way that they can redeem themselves is by sitting down with Rachelle and her rep's and and render a full apology, pleading that she return to the production and promise to never,ever treat another actor (or anyone else employed by Summit) like this again.
They can chalk it off to a miscommunication or something like that.
Then they have to get on their knees and apologize to all of the Twilight fandom. Someone will have to get a picture of them on their knees and blow it up a million times so they can post it on the biggest billboard in the world.
Oh, and it will have to have a sign above it in big red letters that reads, "WE'RE SORRY AND WE PROMISE WE'LL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN!"

I'd be flipping out if any of the cast like the Cullens, Bella, wolves, or Charlie was replaced.
So, here's my take on this whole thing. Stick with me. It's long, but I'm hopeful others might understand me.
The rumours started that Rachelle was being replaced. My brain says "That's ridiculous! Why would they do that?" A little while later Summit's Press Release hits their website and it's official. I'm still curious why. Maybe she got an unbelievable lead role that she just COULD NOT turn down? I'd forgive her.
Later in the day Rachelle releases her statement. It makes me sad. She didn't lose the role of Victoria over a leading role in a huge movie. She lost it due to a 10-day supporting role, which was allowable according to her understanding of the contract. I also would imagine that she would have consulted Summit because Eclipse is possibly the BIGGEST MOVIE OF HER CAREER up to that point. So now I'm curious what happened at Summit's end. Can they only get a certain set for those days? Did they even TRY to work with her?
Fast Forward to last night and Summit releases a rebuttal statement. It reads like a fifth grader pointing fingers. I was still upset about the recasting of Rachelle, and it made me sad because she seemed honestly hurt about it. (I have PMS. I'm ridiculously emotional right now. lol) Summit basically said it was HER fault for taking a role in another movie. They would have kept her otherwise.
Now... I was willing to just accept that things didn't work out. I was. All I needed to hear was Summit say "We exhausted all efforts to uphold the contract with Rachelle, but the scheduling conflicts persisted. The choice was then left to her as to which role she would rather play. She chose to work on Barney's Versions, so unfortunately we had to recast the part." But it didn't. I read that thing 4 times. They keep talking about how she should have made a good faith effort, but where is there's?
THAT... is why I am upset. Because their own finger pointing "It's her own fault" statement made no mention of any efforts or choices offered on their part to uphold the contract. It sounds like they are pist off that she even took a role with another company. Rachelle has been talking about trying to juggle her schedule for a couple months now, so that she could make sure she was available for filming Eclipse. But suddenly within the last week she blind sided them with "Hey I have another role." Not buying that either.
So I'm sending my complaint e-mails and ribbons because it looks like Summit is the one who failed here. They are too busy trying to make a profit to be an honorable business which upholds their contracts and realizes that they are NOTHING if they don't have fans to come and see their movies.
I am begining to think we have some Summit workers posting on this thread girls.
It's more important that Breaking Dawn be made into a movie than people learn to use their voices? All of this might not get Rachelle back to play Victoria, but it could effect how they make other choices involving this franchise... including your precious Breaking Dawn.
hopefully they will change and give rachelle the role...
if not watching eclipse won't be that great 'cause ive gotten use to Rachelle!

This whole blame game is just really bad publicity, and is very unprofessional for both parties to be releasing statements against each other. If these two are feuding, of course the fans are going to go nuts!
As sweet and as dedicated as it is, there's not a chance Summit will re-hire Rachelle. Filming starts next month!
This was a big deal. May be a conspiracy, may not. End result- we have Bryce Dallas Howard. Just gotta accept it and let the show go on!

I pretty much beat this to a pulp on twitter and eclipsemovie.org. I'm just still grateful that patticakes or taylor hasn't left- I care more about those three than the supporting roles.
And I'm still doing the happy dance because one of my favorite sagas is still being turned into a movie! I remember when we were all freaking out over whether or not there would be a sequel!

some of my very best twi-girls from here are team rachelle, though- so I do want to defend their feelings. they have their own right to miss rachelle and want to write letters to summit and such, and i think the sentiment is sweet. it just shows that they were very dedicated to Rachelle and her role as Victoria.

Secondly, so many people hated Robert as Edward when he was first cast and then everyone came around to liking him. Don't you think this might be the same situation with Bryce? Sure we'll all love Rachelle, but maybe Bryce can bring something else that we'll all enjoy. We're all still going to see the movie, so let's just try and enjoy it. Just a thought though. :)
And this just plainly sucks. Rachelle is my Victoria. I have always loved her and her enthusiasm for the series and the role.
I truly believe that Summit had options and could have worked with her. But for whatever reasons that were determined behind closed doors, they made a hasty unprofessional move.
No one is going to be able to convince me otherwise.
And I understand that money grubbing politics is the name of the game in Hollywood, but that doesn't make it right. That's one of the things that is wrong with this world now is people continuously make excuses for a lack of human decency because it is just the way things are.

I really don't get Summit. Why would they jerk around the people funding their bankroll? Honestly, they need to look at the saga for what it is, a happy accident. They didn't make this, we made them! I am so angry at them because they could've avoided this, they could avoid this drama and fighting through media.
They ruined a good atmosphere the cast had, they were all getting along. This was totally unnecessary.

It seems like they could have been more flexible with her schedule. It was just the rehearsal that she would have had a conflict with, correct, not actual filming. Of course I have no clue how that stuff works. So maybe it wasn't as easy as I think it is to change a few things around.
I think it's best to approach this with maturity if you want Summit to take you seriously. . I'm all for contacting Summit and expressing how you feel.

it is so obvious your doings are sketch, bc it's clear during CC last week Rachelle was very enthusiastic about Eclipse when she was spotted @ Twilight screenings. You must have hired BDH long before; otherwise why would Rachelle want to make an apperance? ok ok, you'll argue, it's part of her contract. sure, make an appearance. nowhere does it say play up the enthusiasm and passion to the fans. (i.e. Rachelle was clearly not putting up a show during CC). so - what do you do since you lack major b@lls? release a statement AFTER CC hysteria. if you were straight legit, you would have issued a statement LONG before the beginning of Eclipse production.

Didn't Rob have to turn down a movie he was signed to do because he would be filming New Moon?? Why didn't Summit have a contract written in stone for all the actors, so they would be obligated to do Eclipse and the rest of the movies?
Rachelle says Summit knew and that they would be able to work around the 10 days, that's why she took it...So, why is it they she can't get out of the other movie?
Reguardless..Rachelle's character is only in the movie at the end, so I don't see it being a problem for Summit to shoot around her..They could do it for Cam, they can do it for her..it's only 10 days..The whole movie is bacically Edward, Bella and Jacob, then Victoria at the end.
Imagine at the next Twicons a room filled with Rachelle's face on everybodies Tees

Rachelle agreed to the indy movie based on the schedule she had been given by Summit. Summit changed the schedule in mid July. Thus a conflict occurred. Rachelle informed Summit. Summit recast the role.

Good news about New Moon from director Chris Weitz:
I'm very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he's doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.
The characters in Stephenie's books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I'm looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.

I'd just like to add that I was very much a part of this decision. My first priority was always what was best for New Moon—what was going to give us the best possible movie. I'm truly thrilled that Taylor was the one who proved to the director, to Summit, and to me that he is the best possible Jacob we could have. And I'm very much looking forward to seeing what he's going to bring to Jacob's character this year.
